A new Rex picture[]

We need a new picture per the season 2 trailer of rebels. Unsigned comment by Jedi Knight Fett (talk • contribs).

CANON should be only article[]

The fact that Rex is introduced in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie, and exists solely within TCW, (and now Rebels) is enough to move all information from the Legends side into the canon side. All information should be in the one canon article, save for any comic book appearances. Effect 21:38, April 19, 2015 (UTC)

  • The Canon page cannot just be a copy-paste of the Legends article. - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 21:41, April 19, 2015 (UTC)
    • I understand that in most cases. In this case, as in the case with a lot of other TCW characters, the Legends article contains information that belongs in the canon article. I dare say MOST of the information in legends should not be *copied*, it should instead be *moved* entirely.Effect 21:48, April 19, 2015 (UTC)
      • Effect, only you would be so bold. The Clone Wars are an integral part the post-2008 Legends continuity, and we are not removing that info from our Legends pages. - AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 22:00, April 19, 2015 (UTC)
        • Hey, I'm on a diplomatic mission here, and would like to discuss it in committee.... Wait, what? Haha. Okay, I'm beginning to see that maybe there is some reason behind this, but I'm still not getting it. Let's just move this over to the other discussion in Legends, and hopefully I can get it there. -Effect 22:08, April 19, 2015 (UTC)

Technically, The Clone Wars is part of the Legends continuity, and medias such as Servants of the Republic comics which Captain Rex appears in are in the Legends and are not canon so there actually should be two seperat pages.-- (talk) 23:13, July 13, 2015 (UTC)

Torrent Company/501st Legion[]

Rex was actually placed in charge of Torrent Company of the 501st Legion. A Captain wouldn't be placed in charge of a battalion unless no other officers were available, let along a legion. --98.194.180.107 12:20, August 5, 2015 (UTC)Confederate or Separatist?

Two pages?[]

Why are two pages? http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/CT-7567/Legends --OmniPowerRangers (talk) 04:06, December 26, 2015 (UTC)

  • That's because this talk page one is about all the information provided in Canon scources (star wars clone wars and rebels), the other one is about the legends scources (clone wars, again, and all the comics, novels, and everything released prior to april, 2014). If you're asking such things you probably don't know the reason between Canon and Legends, and I'm not a good "teacher", but it's something like this: When Disney bought Lusafilm, they reset the Star Wars universe, so that the new films could have more freedom. This way everything released prior to april, 2014 (except the 6 films and the clone wars series) was made non-canon. Now almost everything that is released in part of what we call the new canon. This is it, I hope you understood... Pedronog (talk) 19:21, December 27, 2015 (UTC)Pedronog

Rex is Nik Sant[]

Rex is Nik Sant. Dave Filoni outright confirmed the theory. He said "But I think the one thing I have really thought about is I really do think that Rex is that guy on Endor. I really do. Why else is there a bearded old guy on Endor"Unsigned comment by Djrdavidray (talk • contribs).

  • He was probably joking around. We'll have to wait for some confirmation before any changes are made to the article. BrulesBrules signatureClick here to chat 04:21, April 1, 2016 (UTC)
    • Considering he said "I think," it's not a confirmed fact. It's a cool theory, for sure, but right now that's just Dave's opinion, not a canonical fact. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 04:57, April 1, 2016 (UTC)
      • He did say "I'm gonna make that happen." Though, I agree we should definitely wait for confirmation. *crosses fingers* -- Dr. Porter Resistance starbird (Talk|Contribs) 05:08, April 1, 2016 (UTC)

I think he did confirm it now a few days ago at the Celebration so are we going to add Return of the Jedi to apperance --Dogsteeves (talk) 02:49, April 22, 2017 (UTC)

  • This is already addressed in a new thread on this page. To sum it up, Filoni and Hidalgo gave a lot of winks, but it hasn't been 100% confirmed yet. - Cwedin(talk) 04:24, April 22, 2017 (UTC)

Affiliated to the Galactic Empire?[]

Do we know for sure that Rex was a soldier of the Empire for some time? Maybe he left the army before the transition to the Empire. TanDivoInsignia-SenateMurders AnilSerifoglu (talk) 22:56, April 20, 2016 (UTC)

Name[]

Do you think the article name should be changed to "Rex"? Now, I know that clones designation codes are technically their most formal names, we're supposed to use the most formal name possible, (i.e: Jabba Desilijic Tiure, not Jabba the Hutt) but it also says that in the case of multiple names, you should use what they identify as, and in Rex's case, he states shortly before the Assault on Seelos that he hasn't even heard his birth number in years. It's also important to bring up the fact that the article on the defected Stormtrooper from The Force Awakens is titled as "Finn", not "FN-2187", because that's what he best identifies as. Considering that Rex takes a minute to even recognize his own birth number, perhaps he's better self-identified as "Rex" as opposed to "CT-7567".

--NotCrazyCarson (talk) 22:14, June 3, 2016 (UTC)

  • Rex redirects here so there is no point. Probuscis (talk) 22:25, June 3, 2016 (UTC)

Well, I'm not sure this is really a discussion of whether or not there's any point, rather, whether or not it makes sense to do. I think, that much like for all intents and purposes, FN-2187's name is really Finn now, the same can be said that CT-7567 is really named Rex now.

--NotCrazyCarson (talk) 19:09, June 4, 2016 (UTC)

  • Your reasoning is sound. On the other hand, there's something to be said for the consistency of having all clones identified by their numbers. Finn isn't a clone, so there's some justification for handling him differently. Asithol (talk) 21:28, July 5, 2016 (UTC)

Work for the Empire[]

Rex as per the ahsoka novel deserted/faked his death before the Empire was even formed so I am going to remove it. Jedi Knight Fett (talk) 17:13, October 28, 2016 (UTC)

Return of the Jedi[]

Dave Filoni and Pablo Hildago apparently confirmed Captain Rex was the old man in ROTJ at Celebration today. I chose to put it hn this thread before I made any changes to the article because Im not 100% sure--Marcuspearl (talk) 21:53, April 13, 2017 (UTC)

  • It wasn't confirmed, they just showed season 4 concept art of Rex wearing Rebel Forest gear similar to the stuff worn on Endor.--Tuskin38 (talk) 22:01, April 13, 2017 (UTC)

Return of the Nik Sant[]

Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Nik Sant! --20:20, June 18, 2017 (UTC)

  • While Star Wars: Force Collection identifies the character as Nik Sant, it's very possible that Lucasfilm might retcon that. Force Collection is kind of gray-area material. - Cwedin(talk) 20:38, June 18, 2017 (UTC)

ARC Trooper?[]

What is the source of him being an ARC trooper? I don't recall him ever being called that in Clone Wars. --Tuskin38 (talk) 17:46, November 27, 2017 (UTC)

  • Star Wars: Galactic Atlas calls him an ARC trooper --Lewisr (talk) 17:49, November 27, 2017 (UTC)
    • Could also explain why a captain is in command of an entire Legion in my opinion.--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 17:56, November 27, 2017 (UTC)
      • Perhaps the wiki should be edited to include a citation indicating the source of this. --ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 00:14, November 28, 2017 (UTC)
        • It already is under 'Early life' --Lewisr (talk) 00:18, November 28, 2017 (UTC)
        • Oops, not sure how I missed that. However, and perhaps this is already covered in the 'manual of style', but shouldn't the first mention of 'ARC', in the opening paragraph of the article, contain the citation?--ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 00:26, November 28, 2017 (UTC)
          • The intros aren't sourced unless the information doesn't appear elsewhere, as it is mentioned in the first paragraph of the biography it doesn't need to be sourced in the intro --Lewisr (talk) 00:33, November 28, 2017 (UTC)

Move the article to "Rex"[]

In light of the recently ratified Palpatine Amendment to the Naming policy, we have since redirected "Palpatine" to Darth Sidious and moved "Darth Maul" to Maul. I believe the time has now come to move this article to Rex. The Naming policy says to name clone trooper articles according to their numerical designations, which is why this article is currently at CT-7567. But the Canon version of Rex from Star Wars Rebels has given us a new element to consider: retired clone troopers.

In the Rebels episode "The Lost Commanders," Rex makes it abundantly clear he is retired from Republic/Imperial military service: "Didn't you hear? The Emperor said the clone army has out-served its purpose and retired us. My days as a soldier are over." The SW.com Rex Biography Gallery further confirms that he is formally retired. Now that Rex is officially a civilian, "The Lost Commanders" also makes it abundantly clear that he goes only by his nickname. When Ezra asks, "Hey, does the number 7-5-6-7 mean anything to you?", Rex shockingly remarks, "I haven't heard those digits in... Well, that's my birth number." And when Ezra says, "It's nice to meet you, 7-5-6-7.", Rex replies, "Actually, my name is Rex.", and he continues to use that name exclusively up to his latest chronological appearance in the continuity.

Given that Rex is retired from active military service (to reiterate, he states he is not a soldier anymore), it is logical to consider that he is no longer officially a "clone trooper" and thus is not bound by the clone trooper clause of the Naming policy requiring his article to be named CT-7567. Rather, it is more appropriate to consider that he now falls under item 2 of the "Be precise when possible" section, which states that Whenever alternate names are used in canon, use the name under which the subject was known during the later time period. Since he has clearly shed the CT-7567 designation and goes exclusively by the name Rex in retired civilian life, that's how his Canon article should be named. Assuming there won't be any exceptionally compelling, source-based arguments against doing this, I will be moving this article in about 24 hours. Per the Palpatine Amendment, "CT-7567" will become a redirect to this Canon article (because he's a film character), and the Legends article will be moved to "CT-7567/Legends." Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 17:40, August 9, 2018 (UTC)

  • I definitely support that, it makes perfect sense to do so--Vitus InfinitusTalk 01:08, August 10, 2018 (UTC)

Name[]

Can't we change this back to CT-7567? All articles for clones with designations are called by their numerical desginations.--Commandodroid4333 (talk) 03:36, October 21, 2018 (UTC)

  • See the above section on renaming. Fan26 (Talk) 03:38, October 21, 2018 (UTC)

Hair Color[]

Someone recently changed the information about his hair color stating it was a mutation rather than bleached/dyed (or just blonde) and said the source was "information from comics", what's the source of this? --Seabirdicat (talk) 02:20, December 11, 2018 (UTC)

  • No idea, but with no source it should be changed back --Lewisr (talk) 02:26, December 11, 2018 (UTC)

Placement of "501 Plus One"[]

Based on The Clone Wars, this Age of Republic comic should take place after Mystery of a Thousand Moons. Why? At the end of the episode, Obi-Wan tells Jar Jar that he will get special training on how to use a blaster, meaning that he can't use one very well prior to the episode. Rex also specifically tells Kenobi that he isn't training him. Cut to Age of Republic, Jar Jar can use a blaster like someone who has been trained. And Rex wouldn't be averse to training Jar Jar had he seen him fight in the comic.

Overall, after that episode seems to make the most sense. The placement before Rookies is only there because people assume that the Battle of Mimban occurred ended before the episode. Any thoughts on changing the overall placement? SenatorConfer (talk) 15:38, January 29, 2019 (UTC)

  • I understand what you're driving at, and I think it has merit, but the reality here is that the comic is during an event which is firmly/in-dialogue referenced in Rookies, whereas the Jar Jar's presumed training with a blaster is just that—presumed, as in, unverified. Placing it before Rookies is something we can do, because there's a verifiable fact to crossreference. Placing it based on a supposed training we've never seen would be making a guess. Educated maybe, but a guess all the same. — DigiFluid(Whine here) 19:18, January 29, 2019 (UTC)

Here come the clones as a source[]

Here comes the clones is an older video from before the canon reset. So should it be a source on this canon page, or does this video only get listed as a source on legends pages? We do use older behind the scenes videos for Star Wars: The Clone Wars for canon.--Editoronthewiki (talk) 23:15, May 17, 2019 (UTC)

Rex confirmed to be Nik Sant in GoA[]

The latest episode of Galaxy of Adventures, "Han Solo - From Smuggler to General", depicts Nik Sant using Rex's Rebels Season 4 look, making it unambiguously clear that the two are intended to be canonically one and the same. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 17:43, June 14, 2019 (UTC)

  • Matt Martin’s tweets say otherwise.--Editoronthewiki (talk) 18:23, June 14, 2019 (UTC)
    • It doesn't mean that they're the same, but it still confirms the presence on Endor. We see that Nik Sant and Rex have different outfits.--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 20:19, June 14, 2019 (UTC)

Imperial service[]

As shown in the latest episode of TCW (S7E11), Rex did in fact attempt to execute Order 66 on Ahsoka and submitted to the chip. In Episode III we see Palpatine declare a new order of the Empire, and effective immediately, every Republic Clone Trooper became an Imperial Stormtrooper, even though the armour we all recognise as Stormtrooper armour came into production only years later. Doesn't this mean that for a very short time, Rex could be considered as an Imperial Stormtrooper and so under Affiliations it should say Galactic Empire? Unsigned comment by Ultistinct (talk • contribs).

  • The Declaration of a New Order happened after Order 66. 1358 (Talk) 22:04, May 1, 2020 (UTC)
  • The Proclamation of the New Order did not happen directly following Order 66. It happened sometime later during the special convening of the Senate. Order 66 happened while the Republic still existed. MasterCommerce GuildFredcerique 22:06, May 1, 2020 (UTC)

CC designation[]

The newly released reference book Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Character Encyclopedia - Join the Battle! lists Rex's numerical designation as "CC-7567" despite the "CT" number heard in the show. Did we want to note that on the article somewhere or just chalk it up to a typo and leave it off? Bane7670 (talk) 23:44, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

  • I think we should at least make a footnote of it — YakovChaimTzvi (talk) 00:51, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
    • It can just be mentioned in the BTS, as well as noted next to the Character Encyclopedia in sources using {{ID|CC-7567}} Lewisr (talk) 00:58, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

Character image[]

I don't understand why Rex's character image is now from the Bad Batch. I previously thought the rules were: most lifelike (live-action) gets highest priority and traditional animation or sketches get lowest, and within a life-likeness class, the images of the person later in their life took precedent (such as from Rebels). Now I'm confused. -- YakovChaimTzvi (talk) 17:42, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Rex/Nik Sant in Star Wars (2020) #22[]

I know there's still a lot of... active discussion on here about the relationship between Nik Sant and Rex, and there hasn't been a strong conclusion reached. Sure, ok. But in the latest Star Wars comic arc, we see the Starlight Squadron going on a rescue run onto the Tarkin's Will to free Shara Bey, and everyone on the squad is named, except for this guy. He's clearly modeled after Nik Sant/Rex, but it's not confirmed. Should this go... somewhere? Nik's page or Rex's page or something? Is this a new "Unknown Rebellion Slicer"? Videodante (talk) 22:33, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

Editors seem to be unable to conclude Rex's ARC Status[]

Looking at Rex's page, the role of advanced recon commando is removed from his overview because "ARC training", but then there is Battle of Horain which says Rex is wearing "ARC Armor" and Rex becoming an ARC post Fives' death. So should Galactic Atlas be considered as an error and anything related to ARC Trooper should be removed from Rex? Unsigned comment by 202.175.67.180 (talk • contribs).
