Move page[]

I think this page should be moved to The Child. Per the subtitles, episode 1 calls it "the asset" (lowercase), and episode 2 calls it "The Child" (capital). - Cwedin(talk) 18:57, November 15, 2019 (UTC)

name?[]

with "Yoda", and "yadl" being the only 2 known examples of that species I propose "Yado" as the childs name....at least until it gets an official name. lol. 47.198.227.172 06:19, November 16, 2019 (UTC)Daehock-Dagonson

Im calling it, the empire want him because[]

his force healing power, so they can bring palpatine back to life....I have a longer theory that also explains why they wanted him cloned and why it was wanted dead or alive too, but yeah, ROSW does not explain why palps is still alive, perhaps they did not want to spoil the mandalorian? For now, We should call him baby yoda. Unsigned comment by ToughChoice2008 (talk • contribs).

Mandalorian[]

Okay, so I'm extremely confused here. The Child is confirmed to be part of a Mandalorian clan, has been called twice now a Mandalorian foundling, and Chapter 8 establishes that Mandalorians are not strictly human (in open defiance of what the current Mandalorian page on this wiki declares). The Child uses a Mandalorian-theme infobox, but every time I have tried to put (Mandalorian) next to its species, like all of the other members of the Mandalorian culture, it gets reverted. Why? GokūBlack10 (Talk) 21:49, December 28, 2019 (UTC)

  • If the situation regarding what actually is a Mandalorian has now changed, wouldn't it be more appropriate to list Mandalorian under his affiliations rather than species? --Lewisr (talk) 22:00, December 28, 2019 (UTC)
    • Yeah I think you've both got the right idea. If it's been established non-humans can be adopted into Mandalorian family groups, we can update the Mandalorian page to reflect that. The little guy's page should be updated also, but I'm not sure if it belongs in the species field or affiliation. We do have races noted such as Ben Solo's species being denoted as "Human (Chandrilan)," but I'm not sure if it fits in species field for this character, since he is a unique example among his species. Toqgers (talk) 22:14, December 28, 2019 (UTC)
    • All valid points. I just wanted to see what I was doing wrong so I didn't continue to make it! Thanks guys. GokūBlack10 (Talk) 22:16, December 28, 2019 (UTC)

Vandalism and possible Protection[]

I have realized that there is an excessive amount of vandalism taking place on this article. Might I suggest protecting this page so that only registered users may edit the article? The recent edits have been by users that are not registered to Fandom, and most have been vandalism. --Erebus Chronus (talk) 22:20, December 31, 2019 (UTC)

  • There has been a little increase, but for the moment I think no protection is necessary, if it started getting excessive over a prolonged period of time then it would be the right time, but so far it doesn't seem to be so bad --Lewisr (talk) 22:52, December 31, 2019 (UTC)
    • I understand. It would only be how I would deal with the situation because it is a fairly popular character and people may begin to vandalize it by suggesting it be named to "baby Yoda" instead of "The Child". Only a suggestion, but thank you for replying to my message. --Erebus Chronus (talk) 22:56, December 31, 2019 (UTC)
      • Yeah I understand what you mean, the potential is there but lets it won't come to that --Lewisr (talk) 23:00, December 31, 2019 (UTC)
        • Admins are keeping an eye on this page, don't worry. So far it seems that its just one user that has been constantly adding nonsense to the page, but with multiple accounts. In reality there hasn't been a lot of vandalism here. Also requests for protection are done here Wookieepedia:Requests for protection, that way it doesn't get lost in the Recent Changes.--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 23:05, December 31, 2019 (UTC)
          • Of course there's a place to request protection, but thank you in advance for informing me of the location to make requests, I'm still learning a lot of things about Wookieepedia as I joined back in October of this year. So from now on, I'll remember to go make requests there, and I knew the admins were probably keeping an eye on this article, but thank you for telling me this, you've eased my worries. --Erebus Chronus (talk) 23:20, December 31, 2019 (UTC)
              • We really should consider to put this article underneath protection. It's really annoying to deal with all this vandalism. --Supreme Commander Raxus (talk) 19:34, January 2, 2020 (UTC)

Main image[]

Wouldn't it make sense for the article's main picture to be, say, an official screencap of the character instead of what is obviously a promotional picture of a toy? It's not like there's a shortage of official The Child imagery, right? 178.66.31.96 12:45, March 29, 2020 (UTC)

Name of Page?[]

I feel like changing the name of the page to Grogu is a major spoiler. Wouldn't it be better to leave the title "The Child" and have "Grogu" redirect here? Unsigned comment by DustOfWinter (talk • contribs).

  • Wookieepedia contains spoilers. If you want to avoid spoilers you'll want to avoid browsing the wiki. 1358 (Talk) 19:58, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
  • I mean, it's a name. It's not on the scale of an article being named "Death of (insert character here)". It's really not that big of a spoiler. --Potsk (talk) 13:20, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

Let's be honest here[]

The character has been named "Grogu". The page has been renamed to "Grogu". But every last one of us is going to keep calling him Baby Yoda. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

  • This space is for discussing edits to the article, not what people are going to refer to him as. VergenceScatter (talk) 00:15, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
    • Baby Yoda was never an official name to begin with. The only name he's got before Ahsoka told us was "The Child." The move to Grogu was absolutely needed. If you want to look him up with the Baby Yoda redirect, go ahead. But canon names outweigh fanon names. SeanWheeler (talk) 01:15, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Homeworld[]

I suggest we set "homeworld" as Coruscant, since the homeworld module also refers to the planet where the character grew up (such as with Anakin Skywalker/Legends) --Potsk (talk) 13:18, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

  • That would just be speculation, as we only know that he lived there for a period of time, not that he was born there. --JediMasterMacaroniAdmiral Ackbar RH(Conversation) 16:32, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
    • Many Jedi grew up and trained there, that doesn't automatically make their homeworld Coruscant. UberSoldat93 Din Djarin's clan (talk) 16:35, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
      • If a source comes out and says its his homeworld we can add it. But just in response to Macaroni's point, homeworld is not always where someone is born but sometimes where they are raised, examples Luke/Tatooine, Leia/Alderaan, and Rey/Jakku --Lewisr (talk) 17:01, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

baby yoda[]

should baby yoda redirect here? i mean, most people just call him that. theo(:922 (talk) 23:10, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

EDIT IN ACCORDANCE WITH BOBF EPISODE 6[]

During the scenes with Luke and Grogu, Luke helps Grogu remember the siege of the Jedi Temple - info the wiki page is missing thus far. Update?

  • It simply hasn't been added yet, you're welcome to add the information if you wish, or someone will get to it Lewisr (talk) 23:57, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

His final destruction![]

I found the animatronic toy of him so annoying I put him in my wood chipper and he's never worked since, yay!.Aluminium bronze hair time? (talk). 00:45, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

Wrong Link[]

I was just browsing and noticed that the link for Krill in the Into Hiding section currently takes you to the page for the letter instead of the creature's. Should be an easy fix. 81.146.17.5 03:49, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

  • Thanks for spotting that, I've fixed that link now! Lewisr (talk) 03:52, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

Rebels[]

StarForceOne covered this already, but in season four of Rebels, there appears to be a mural of Grogu on the wall behind Sabine. I'm not sure which episode it is at the moment, but should it be a possible "first pictured"? Unsigned comment by MaelStr0M69 (talk • contribs).

  • There isn't evidence that it's specifically Grogu rather than just any other member of that species. Unless it was confirmed to be Grogu we shouldn't add it Lewisr (talk) 16:21, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
