Sofra tree fiber was a type of roofing material made from sofra trees. By the time of the High Republic Era, the fiber was used on the Outer Rim planet Valo within the Haplak district, and several structures used both thatched sofra tree fiber and metal sheets to construct long roofs. While traveling through the district[1] in 229 BBY[2] with his crew, the Jedi youngling Gavi noticed the long roofs constructed with sofra tree fiber.[1]

Sofra tree fiber appeared in Escape from Valo, a 2024 junior novel written by Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[3]
