- "I heard Valo was pretty this time of year. Especially with all the sofra trees blossoming in Lonisa City."
"They only bloom when it snows. Do you see any snow?" - ―Zyle Keem and Driggit Parse
Sofra trees were a type of tree that could be found on the Outer Rim planet Valo, growing within the world's Lonisa City and blossoming during its snowy season.[1] By 229 BBY,[2] buildings within the Haplak district on Valo used the thatched fiber of the trees as roofing material alongside metal sheets.[1]
While in Lonisa City[1] in 229 BBY,[2] the Nihil recruit Driggit Parse confronted the pirate Zyle Keem for being out past the world's occupation curfew. When Keem stated that they had come as a tourist to visit Valo's blossoming sofra trees, she called the pirate out for lying, as the trees only bloomed when it was snowing. Not long after, the Jedi youngling Gavi walked through the Haplak district with his crew and noticed the long roofs formed by the sofra trees' material.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Sofra trees were mentioned in Escape from Valo, a 2024 junior novel written by Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[3]
