"The Jedi must be avenged, Master Barr. Send us to destroy this Vader."
"As easy as that, Rebb? Vader is the most dangerous man alive, and his Inquisitors are nearly as bad. I have another plan."
―Rebb, and Ferren Barr[2]

Rebb was a human who lived during the Imperial Era. Witnessing the Empire's forces firsthand, Rebb and their partner Stell decided to resist its rule in the hope of a better life and joined the disciples of the Jedi Padawan Ferren Barr. In 18 BBY, one year into the Galactic Empire's reign, Rebb was on the planet Mon Cala along with Barr, Stell, and four other acolytes of Barr's. That year, the Sith Lord Darth Vader and three Jedi-hunting Inquisitors went to Mon Cala in search of Barr and found the acolytes as they vacated their refuge. They were chased to the entrance of Mon Cala's Bel City, where Rebb and Stell stayed to hold off Vader and the Inquisitors.

Biography[]

Joining Ferren Barr[]

"This is wrong, Stell. we need to do something."
"And what do you suppose that would be, Rebb? Just look at them!"
"I don't know, but we need to find it."
―Rebb and Stell, as the Empire occupies their home[1]

Rebb and Stell watch the Empire occupy their home.

After the Galactic Empire's founding[1] in 19 BBY,[3] Rebb watched from their home as Imperial forces moved in to occupy the area around them. Rebb condemned the Empire and told their human partner Stell that they could not raise children under the Empire's reign. Although Stell was hesitant, Rebb resolved to do something to fight back, insisting that nothing else mattered. Eventually, Rebb and Stell met the Jedi Padawan Ferren Barr,[1] who had fallen to the dark side of the Force[4] and started stylizing himself as a Jedi Master, in a cantina. When Barr offered Rebb and Stell purpose, Rebb told Barr that they would follow him and the two joined his group of acolytes.[1]

By 18 BBY,[5] Barr and his acolytes were based in a cave refuge on the planet Mon Cala, where Barr served as a secret advisor to King of Mon Cala Lee-Char. Suspecting Lee-Char's collusion with a Jedi, Emperor Palpatine sent the Sith Lord Darth Vader,[6] a squad of Purge Troopers, military forces, and three Inquisitors—Jedi turned Jedi hunters—to Mon Cala.[1]

Fight on Mon Cala[]

"Nothing else matters, eh, Stell?"
"Nothing."
―Rebb and Stell make their last stand[1]

As the Mon Calamari battled the Imperial forces, Barr used a hologram to explain to Rebb and the others that Vader was Anakin Skywalker, a once trusted Jedi Knight who betrayed and destroyed the Order and began hunting remaining Jedi alongside the Inquisitors. In response, Rebb insisted that they and the other disciples should be sent to destroy Vader and avenge the Jedi. Warning of Vader's power, Barr rejected the proposal but assured Rebb that he had a plan to avenge the Jedi.[2] When Barr was informed by Lee-Char that Vader had discovered their hideout and was likely coming for them,[7] Barr immediately ordered his acolytes to evacuate. Planning to flee by swimming underwater, Rebb and the other disciples donned self-contained dive suits. After Barr directed them to flee the planet, the disciples left the refuge and traversed the water using Underwater Turbo Sled Pikes.[1]

The group quickly encountered an Imperial submarine manned by Vader and his Inquisitors and immediately scattered, with Barr directing them toward the nearby Bel City. However, one of the acolytes, Nipaltoo, went toward Vader's submarine and attacked, only to have their helmet crushed with the Force by the Sith Lord, killing Nipaltoo. As Rebb and the others continued to flee, the acolyte Orvek bought them more time by attacking the submarine, but Orvek was also killed. The remaining group, including Rebb and Stell, reached Bel City, where Rebb decided to stay at the entrance to the city and fight, hoping to slow the Imperial forces down even more. Completely devoted to their partner, Stell stayed behind with Rebb, who reminded Stell that nothing besides the fight mattered as they both readied blasters.[1]

Personality and traits[]

"I will not raise our children in a galaxy controlled by that."
―Rebb, during the occupation of their home[1]

Rebb was a human with brown eyes, light skin, and brown hair that later became black. Rebb strongly opposed the Empire and was angered by witnessing its occupation. They convinced Stell to join them in their efforts against the Empire and followed Barr without question when he offered them an opportunity to find purpose.[1] When Darth Vader arrived on Mon Cala, Rebb was keen to avenge the Jedi, offering themself to fight Vader.[2] When they were pursued by Vader to Bel City, Rebb took the opportunity to fight and stayed behind.[1]

Skills and abilities[]

"Go! I can ambush them here—take some of them down."
―Rebb's last words to Ferren Barr[1]

Rebb could drive an Underwater Turbo Sled Pike and utilize a blaster.[1] They believed that they would be able to fight Vader, though Ferren Barr doubted they could,[2] and they attempted to slow Vader and his forces down.[1]

Equipment[]

While watching the Imperial forces, Rebb wore a gray and brown shirt with a mesh bottom, a gray skirt, and gray boots. They also wore a gray tunic with brown shoulder pads while meeting with Ferren Barr. As one of Barr's disciples, Stell wore Jedi apparel. While attempting to escape Mon Cala, Stell utilized a scuba-diving outfit, an Underwater Turbo Sled Pike, and a blaster.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Rebb first appeared in the fourteenth issue of the comic series Star Wars: Darth Vader (2017), which was written by Charles Soule, penciled by Giuseppe Camuncoli, and released by Marvel Comics[2] on April 11, 2018.[8] Although Rebb's fate is left ambiguous, a flashback occurred subsequent to their final appearance, similar to flashbacks that followed the deaths of other acolytes.[1]
