"Besides, any day I get to fight Imperials is a good d—"
―Orvek's last words before sacrificing their life[2]

Orvek was a human who became a disciple of the fallen Jedi Padawan Ferren Barr after their home was demolished by the Galactic Empire following its founding in 19 BBY. By 18 BBY, Orvek worked with Barr on the planet Mon Cala until Imperial forces that included the Sith Lord Darth Vader and the Jedi-hunting Inquisitorius discovered them that year. Though Orvek wished to defend the people of Mon Cala, Orvek, Barr, and the other disciples evacuated their refuge on the planet and traversed through the ocean. However, they were soon found by Vader, who was in an Imperial submarine. After Nipaltoo, another of Barr's disciples, failed to stop the submarine, Orvek sacrificed their life to slow the Sith Lord down and allow the others to reach Bel City.

Joining Ferren Barr[]

"This has been explained. The Empire requires this location for a relay facility. It is ideally situated. You will all be compensated for the inconvenience."
"Inconvenience? These are the only homes we've ever known. Where are we supposed to go?"
"Somewhere else."
―A citizen protests to the clones as Orvek's home is bulldozed by the Empire[2]

Orvek and their people were evicted by the Empire, which demolished their home.

Shortly after the founding of the Galactic Empire[2] in 19 BBY,[3] Orvek's home was bulldozed for an Imperial relay facility. As Orvek watched the demolition of the only home they had ever known, one of the citizens protested to the clone shock troopers guarding the site. After trying to assure them by saying they would be compensated, the clone troopers refused to provide an answer for where the group should go and pointed their blasters at them, forcing an enraged Orvek and the others to leave. Sometime later, Orvek met Ferren Barr, a former Jedi Padawan who claimed to be a Jedi Master, in a cantina.[2] Barr, who had fallen to the dark side of the Force,[4] told Orvek that they would bring down the Empire together, manipulating them into joining him using a Jedi mind trick and making Orvek one of his six acolytes.[2]

By 18 BBY,[1] Barr took Orvek and the other acolytes to the planet Mon Cala, where Barr came to influence the Mon Calamari King Lee-Char in his negotiations with the Empire. Believing the king was being guided by a Jedi, Emperor Palpatine sent the Sith Lord Darth Vader[5] and members of the Inquisitorius—former Jedi turned Jedi hunters—there. Learning of Vader's approach, Barr revealed to Orvek and his disciples that Vader was once the Jedi Anakin Skywalker, but had turned to the dark side and attacked the Jedi Temple on[6] the planet[4] Coruscant. Displaying elements of Vader's life with a hologram, Barr explained that Skywalker had become Vader and had started hunting any surviving Jedi alongside the Inquisitors. Barr then told his disciples that he had a plan that would allow them to avenge the Jedi and encourage rebellion against the Empire.[6]

Evacuation and death[]

"But the Empire's attacking this world… You've been advising their king. Won't we do anything to help?"
―Orvek, to Ferren Barr[2]

After King Lee-Char told Barr that Vader had learned Barr's location,[7] Barr ordered the evacuation of his refuge. The disciples donned self-contained dive suits to swim and breathe underwater before Barr explained that he planned for them to try to flee the planet. Orvek protested this action, suggesting that they should do something to help the people of Mon Cala—who were being invaded by the Empire—because Barr had been advising their king. Insisting that they had done all they needed to on Mon Cala but that they needed to also make change elsewhere, Barr sent his disciples off into the ocean via a hole in the bottom of the cave before following after them.[2]

As the disciples used Underwater Turbo Sled Pikes to traverse the water, they were soon found by Vader, who was in his Imperial submarine. One of the other acolytes, Nipaltoo, shot at Vader's submarine to try and end the fight before it began, but Vader just crushed their helmet with the Force. As the remaining acolytes fled for Bel City at Barr's direction, Orvek realized Vader was catching up and turned their pike around. One of the disciples, Verla, noticed this and asked what Orvek was doing, Orvek explaining that they were trying to buy the others time to escape by slowing the Imperials down. Orvek then turned around and attacked Vader's submarine head on, wielding a harpoon gun. As Orvek expressed their excitement to fight the Imperials, they were killed in an explosion. However, Orvek slowed Vader down enough for the others to make it to Bel City.[2]

Personality and traits[]

"We will bring down the Empire together, Orvek. The Force has shown me the path. All you need to do…"
"…is follow you."
―Ferren Barr and Orvek[2]

Orvek was a human with blond hair, brown eyes, and pale skin. They cared for the people of Mon Cala's plight, as they were reluctant to abandon them. Orvek wished to take down the Empire after they destroyed their home, finding joy in fighting Imperials and willingly sacrificing their life for said goal.[2]

Skills and abilities[]

"They're right on top of us, Verla! We have to slow them down. I'm gonna do that. Give you all a chance to get set. Maybe even hide."
―Orvek[2]

Orvek could drive an Underwater Turbo Sled Pike and utilized a harpoon gun.[2]

Equipment[]

After the Empire destroyed their home, Orvek wore a brown sleeveless shirt over a white shirt. As one of Ferren Barr's disciples, Orvek wore Jedi apparel. They also utilized a scuba-diving outfit, a harpoon gun, and an Underwater Turbo Sled Pike to try to escape from the disciples' cave on Mon Cala.[2]
