"Where is Thrawn?"
"You shall wait. He is coming."
―Morgan Elsbeth and Lakesis[1]

Lakesis was a Dathomirian female Nightsister witch, one of three Great Mothers who allied with Imperial Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo, and called Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth and her forces to the planet Peridea. She, and the other Great Mothers predicted the arrival of Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi Knight who would hinder their plans.[1] After agreeing to use their dark magick, Lakesis helped to locate Tano's ship and delayed her and her allies so their cargo could be transferred to the Chimaera.[4] She and her sisters then inducted Morgan into the sisterhood and resurrected the Night Troopers killed by Tano, Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger to hinder them. Lakesis was onboard the Eye of Sion when it went into hyperspace to travel back to the main galaxy.[5]

Behind the scenes[]

Lakesis first appeared in "Part Six: Far, Far Away," the sixth episode of the Ahsoka television series, portrayed by Jane Edwina Seymour. While not identified in the episode, the character's name was given in the episode's credits.[1] In Greek Mythology, the similarly named Lachesis was one of three goddesses known as the Fates who determined destiny itself, Lachesis specifically being the one of the three who determined how much of the thread of fate to allot.[6] This is similar to how Lakesis and the other Great Mothers claimed to be able to read and know the threads of fate and destiny.[1]

[…] From the time of the poet Hesiod (8th century BC) on, however, the Fates were personified as three very old women who spin the threads of human destiny. Their names were Clotho (Spinner), Lachesis (Allotter), and Atropos (Inflexible). Clotho spun the "thread" of human fate, Lachesis dispensed it, and Atropos cut the thread (thus determining the individual's moment of death)." (archived from the original on June 9, 2023)
