The Kashyyyk resistance,[1] also known as the Wookiee resistance, was a resistance group that resisted the Imperial Occupation of Kashyyyk.
History[]
When the Galactic Republic's clone troopers turned against the Jedi and Wookiees[3] as part of Order 66,[4] the Wookiees formed a resistance movement. The Wookiees used Oevvaor Jet Catamarans, which had previously seen use during the Battle of Kashyyyk, and other vehicles when the Imperial Military launched its occupation.[3]
In 14 BBY,[5] the Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis went to Kashyyyk in search of the Wookiee Chieftain Tarfful, the leader of the Kashyyyk resistance and a friend of Eno Cordova, in order to obtain information about his Jedi holocron, which contained information vital to creating a new generation of Jedi.[2]
According to the smuggler Tregga, Han Solo was orphaned as an infant and was raised on Kashyyyk where he encountered the Wookiee Chewbacca and became friends, even fighting together during the Battle of Kashyyyk. However, the story Tregga told[1] was false, as Solo was from Corellia, and he did not meet Chewbacca until the Mimban Campaign.[6]
