"I have placed inside this vault a Jedi holocron. Containing a list of the names and locations of young Force-sensitives throughout the galaxy."
―Eno Cordova[1]

A Jedi holocron containing a list of the locations of Force-sensitive children across the galaxy was hidden in the Bogano Vault sometime before 14 BBY by Jedi Master Eno Cordova as a means of ensuring the survival of the Jedi Order. Following the Great Jedi Purge, the Padawan Cal Kestis sought out and eventually obtained the holocron in an effort to rebuild the Jedi Order, though he decided not to use it. Instead, Kestis destroyed the holocron, entrusting the children's destinies to the Force; Kestis knew that to recruit children as Jedi would only rob them of choice, violating their individual will and endangering them.

History[]

"I can only trust this holocron to someone who has followed my path and understands."
―Eno Cordova[1]

Originally given to him by Jedi Master Jocasta Nu, Eno Cordova chose to hide the holocron containing a list of Force-sensitive children in a vault on the unknown planet Bogano following a vision he received depicting the ruination of the Order sometime prior to 14 BBY. Cordova ensured that the only way to unlock the vault was to trace his trek across the galaxy, following the history of the Zeffonian species and eventually being led to an astrium that would unlock the vault.[1]

Some years later, following the near-extinction of the Jedi, the holocron was found by Jedi survivor, the Padawan Cal Kestis, and Cordova's droid, BD-1, after they completed Cordova's journey alongside Cere Junda, Cordova's former apprentice. However, upon finding the holocron in the Bogano Vault, Kestis received a vision of the deaths of those bearing the names contained within it, as well as own his fall to the dark side. Immediately upon the vision's passing, he was attacked by the Inquisitor known as the Second Sister, who despite being defeated, managed to escape with the holocron after Kestis was incapacitated by a vision of her past and how her fall to the dark side, escaping to the Fortress Inquisitorius on Nur.[1]

CalHolocronList

Although the holocron and the list were finally in his possession, Kestis destroyed the holocron and entrusted the children's fate to the Force.

Soon after the loss of the holocron, Kestis and Junda infiltrated the Nur fortress, successfully regaining it and escaping both the Sith Lord Darth Vader and his Imperial forces. After fleeing Nur, having been affected by his premonition on Bogano, Kestis decided to destroy the holocron with his crew's blessing in order to allow the children choice.[1]

By 9 BBY, after Kestis took ownership of the Mantis, he stashed the holocron's remains along with his other mementos in the compartment where Greez Dritus' terrarium used to reside. Kestis would regularly wonder on a daily basis if he did the right thing destroying the holocron.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

The holocron appears in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.[1]

During development, various possibilities were considered for the game's Macguffin before settling on the holocron. Among the possibilities considered would be a lost starship.[4]
