"I was just trying to find out what the droid was, and whether it might be worth anything. I need credits, Dex. But I might have said the wrong thing to the wrong people in the wrong place."
―Servit, on Jarl's crew[1]

A crew of at least four members was headed by the Weequay Jarl on the planet Coruscant. When they became aware of a valuable EX droid in the possession of the Mirialan Servit, they followed him to Dex's Diner, where the crew held up the customers at blaster point. Following a short lightfight, Jarl, Servit, and the owner, Dexter Jettster, examined the droid, which revealed the location of the treasure. However, Jettster was able to trick the crew into thinking that the treasure had been in a destroyed system, leading them to leave, miserable at their misfortune.

Description[]

The Weequay Jarl led a crew on[1] the planet Coruscant.[2] Apart from himself, the crew consisted of a human female, a Togruta male, and a protocol droid, T7.[1]

History[]

"I've told you, Jarl. I'm not giving you the droid."
"Doesn't look like you have much choice. Not unless you want to spoil lunch for all these poor people."
―Servit and Jarl[1]
Dex-Inheritance

Dexter Jettster (pictured) interrupted the plans of Jarl's crew.

At some point[1] during the era of the Galactic Republic,[3] a Mirialan named Servit asked Jarl about a family heirloom of his, an EX droid, wondering about its worth. As Jarl was aware that the droid pointed to a valuable treasure, he tried to take it for himself, but Servit ran off to the eatery Dex's Diner to talk with his friend, Dexter Jettster, who owned the diner. Jarl's crew followed him, however, and when they entered, the other three members held up the customers at blaster point while Jarl tried to convince Servit to give up the droid.[1]

When Jettster interjected that that would not happen, Jarl asked for a bowl of brakkenback stew so that everyone could discuss options; Jettster brought the stew, but when he served it, he knocked Jarl unconscious with a frying pan. T7 raised and aimed his blaster in retaliation but did not get a shot off, for Jettster threw the stew at the protocol droid, damaging his inner workings. The Togruta and human also began firing their blasters but were eventually overpowered by Jettster's pans. Just when it seemed like Servit and Jettster were victorious, Jarl had awoken and held a blaster to the Mirialan's neck, forcing him to the kitchen, where he had left the EX droid.[1]

Once there, they watched a message left by the Jedi Sturm Umbrik, who had led an expedition to the moon Shara'Tam and found treasure there centuries prior. The message also included coordinates, which Jarl intended to follow so that he could acquire the treasure. However, Jettster tricked Jarl and his crew into thinking that Shara'Tam had been located in the Ishram system, destroyed fifty years prior, when it was actually in the still-existing Arath system. After confirming that the Ishram system was destroyed with the Togruta but neglecting to check the coordinates himself, Jarl and his now-miserable crew left, intending to bring T7 to the workshop. As they left, the Togruta mumbled something about a missing bounty hunter on[1] the planet[4] Batuu.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Jarl's crew first appeared in "Galactic Tales: Inheritance," an installment of the Galactic Tales series of short stories. The story was written by George Mann and was published in the Star Wars Insider magazine's 211th issue[1] on June 7, 2022.[5]
