"Prospectors have been talking about that fateful expedition for centuries. The story goes that Sturm's team uncovered a great treasure on an arid moon somewhere out on the frontier. A moon called Shara'Tam."
―Dexter Jettster[1]

Shara'Tam was an arid moon in the Outer Rim Territories and Galactic Frontier. The Jedi Sturm Umbrik led an expedition there that discovered treasure and confirmed that a sentient race had once lived in the moon's star system. However, everyone in the expedition was killed by pirates, leaving the location of Shara'Tam unknown for centuries. It was rediscovered when the Mirialan Servit used an EX droid that had been used in the expedition to hear a holorecording from Umbrik, revealing the moon's coordinates to several individuals hoping to find it.

Description[]

Shara'Tam was an arid, terrestrial moon located in the Galactic Frontier and Outer Rim Territories' Arath system.[1]

History[]

"I've provided the relevant coordinates. We've finally located Shara'Tam. And it's here. Just as we thought. It's incredible."
―Sturm Umbrik's holorecording[1]
Dex-Inheritance

Prospectors such as Dexter Jettster (pictured) knew the tale of Shara'Tam as a legend.

A valuable statue on Shara'Tam proved that a sentient race had lived in the Arath system. At some point, the Jedi Sturm Umbrik led an expedition of Republic Pathfinders to the moon, where they found the statue. Umbrik excitedly recorded a message for Janssen, a member of a communications team, to inform them that they had discovered the statue, confirming Umbrik and Janssen's theory. Umbrik implored Janssen to send a team immediately, considering the find "remarkable." However, the Pathfinder team was subsequently attacked by pirates, with everyone being killed, and the EX droid that contained Umbrik's message was lost for centuries. During that time, the story of Umbrik's Shara'Tam expedition spread and came to be known as a tall tale among prospectors.[1]

The Mirialan Servit, a descendant of a member of the expedition, had the EX droid in his possession as a family heirloom[1] during the era of the Galactic Republic.[2] Trying to find out its worth, he revealed it to the Weequay Jarl who, knowing that it was valuable as it pointed to the Shara'Tam treasure, tried to take it for himself. Servit escaped and, following a short skirmish with Jarl and his crew at Dex's Diner on[1] the planet Coruscant,[3] he; Dexter Jettster, the diner's owner and a prospector familiar with the legend of Shara'Tam; and Jarl all watched Umbrik's holographic message, which was recorded on Shara'Tam, from the droid. Jarl planned to go to Shara'Tam and claim the treasure as the moon's coordinates were revealed in the message, but Jettster tricked him into thinking that it had been located in the Ishram system, destroyed fifty years prior. Once Jarl left, Jettster revealed his deception to Servit, who decided to head to Shara'Tam himself and find the treasure.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Shara'Tam appeared in a hologram in "Galactic Tales: Inheritance," an installment of the Galactic Tales series of short stories. The story was written by George Mann and was published in the Star Wars Insider magazine's 211th issue[1] on June 7, 2022.[4]
