"R-series astromechs, purchased from Mubo the droid vendor, pilot the small carts around the outpost where they make stops outside of area businesses."
―Eloc Throno mentions J2-KC and its colleagues[4]

J2-KC was an red and white R5 series astromech droid that belonged to the the Lurmen Jat Kaa, owner of Jat Kaa's Coolers in Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. The droid was reprogramed to drive a small cart around the outpost from which various beverages were delivered and sold to visitors.

Biography[]

J2-KC was an R5 series astromech droid[3] that was purchased alongside several other R-series astromech droids by the Lurmen Jat Kaa from Mubo, the owner of the Droid Depot in Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. Kaa, who owned Jat Kaa's Coolers,[4] reprogramed J2-KC and the other droids to drive small purpose-built carts[3] around the outpost selling the beverages Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, and Dasani water to visitors.[2]

The droid carried out this task outside Black Spire Station during the occupation of Batuu by the First Order[2] in 34 ABY.[5] J2-KC was attached to its cart via a cable and its supply of beverages was regularly restocked by deliveries from the droids[2] J4-KC and J5-KC,[3] who each drove their own carts.[2] The author Eloc Throno mentioned J2-KC and its colleagues in his book Traveler's Guide to Batuu.[4]

Characteristics[]

Both J2-KC and its cart were painted in a red and white color scheme matching the colors of the Coca-Cola bottles. The droid's sensor was also red.[2] Like all R5 series astromech droids, J2-KC stood 0.97 centimeters tall and was manufactured by Industrial Automaton.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

J2-KC is an animatronic prop within the themed land Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge,[2] which opened to guests at Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2019.[6] The droid was first used in Disney's Hollywood Studios,[7] where it was given the name "R5-829;"[3] however, when the droid was later added to Disneyland Park[7] it was assigned the name J2-KC instead.[3] This article assumes the more recent name to be accurate.
