For other uses, see Lo (disambiguation).

Hat Lo was a human crime lord who visited the Outlander Club on the planet Coruscant in 22 BBY with his enslaved consort, Ayy Vida. While there, he availed himself of the private bar of the Baath brothers, who owned the club, while Vida entertained his associates and clients. Shortly after visiting the club, Lo boarded the AA-9 Freighter-Liner Jendirian Valley, which departed from Coruscant and traveled to the planet Naboo.

Biography[]

Hat Lo was a human crime lord who was on the rise[2] in 22 BBY,[4] but not yet important enough to irritate or interest criminal syndicates like the Black Sun. On one cold and rainy night[2] that year,[4] Lo and his[2] enslaved[5] Twi'lek[2] consort,[6] Ayy Vida—who was forced to serve as his concubine against her will—took refuge in the warm and welcoming glow of the neon lights in the Outlander Club in the Uscru District of the planet Coruscant.[2]

The club was already falling out of favor with the more daring members of the fashionable elite, but Lo's assiduous presence marked the new kind of clientele that began to be found at the club. Such was Lo's ascent over the owners of the club,[2] the Baath brothers,[5] that he availed himself of their private bar while Vida spoke with Achk Med-Beq, one of Lo's associates,[2] and then entertained clients of the crime lord.[5]

Hat Lo (center) traveled on the Jendirian Valley.

Shortly after visiting the club, Lo boarded[1] the AA-9 Freighter-Liner Jendirian Valley, which departed from Coruscant's western spaceport carrying refugees and freighter trampers and traveled to the Mid Rim planet Naboo.[7] During the journey, Lo sat in the hold of the freighter near the Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padmé Amidala,[1] who were traveling incognito disguised as refugees.[7]

Personality and traits[]

Hat Lo had brown hair, light skin, and blue eyes.[3]

Equipment[]

Hat Lo wore a floor-length blue robe with a very high collar.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Hat Lo appeared in the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones,[1] which was released on May 16, 2002.[8] The Jendirian Valley scene was filmed in the art department depot of building 48 at Fox Studios, Sydney.[9] Lo can also be seen sat near Skywalker as Amidala wakes him from a bad dream on the ship in the deleted scene "Anakin's Nightmare."[10] In the current Star Wars canon, Hat Lo was first identified in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations.[5]

Prior to the release of Attack of the Clones,[8] Hat Lo was first mentioned in the Star Wars Legends continuity in "Galactic Power Brokers," an article written by J.D. Wiker and published in the Star Wars Roleplaying Game magazine Star Wars Gamer 10 by Wizards of the Coast[11] on May 7, 2002.[12] The article did not associate Lo with the character seen in the film,[11] with this connection first being made in "Who's Who in the Outlander Club: It's Ladies' Night," an article written by Daniel Wallace and published in Star Wars Insider 75[13] on April 6, 2004.[14]
