- "It's the will of the Force."
- ―Friielan, to Avar Kriss, on their desire to stay on Naboo
Friielan was a half Theelin who lived during the High Republic Era. They lost their immediate family when the Nihil pirates attacked the Republic Fair on[1] the Outer Rim planet[2] Valo in 231 BBY,[3] and it caused them to develop a warm but sharply focused demeanor.[1] In 228 BBY,[4] they were partnered with Jedi Master Avar Kriss to undertake missions across the Nihil's Stormwall barrier that prevented hyperspace travel, using the Sunvale device.[1]
Later, after the Republic and Jedi Order liberated[1] the Mid Rim[3] planet Naboo from the Nihil, Friielan informed Kriss that they wanted to remain on Naboo as the world would need pilots, stating it was the will of the Force. Though the Jedi Master did not want anyone to remain in the Nihil's Occlusion Zone, she understood and told Friielan to be careful.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Friielan appeared in the 2024 novel The High Republic: Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[5]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: Temptation of the Force takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon and its events span a few months, its events must be set in 228 BBY.
