Hi everyone, our Discord server has now been in operation for almost three months now and so far it's been smooth sailing. The channel and role structure has been evolving in different directions but we've finally reached a point where the admins—and hopefully also the userbase—are happy with the structure and feel comfortable with proceeding to the next stage: creating a Discord policy and making the server official. Below are notable changes from the trial period:
- The verification limit is now 50 edits (instead of 100).
- Verification is now handled via userpages and Discord instead of posting in an SH thread.
- Unverified users can now post in #help (and #request-verification). This will enable new Wookieepedians to request help before they have 50 edits.
The original Senate Hall thread can be found here. 1358 (Talk) 16:44, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

- Ecks has done fantastic work on this and Discord has become an invaluable feature to us, while still remaining distinct from IRC. This has my full support. Tommy-Macaroni 16:48, June 22, 2020 (UTC)

- The source code for Fandom's User Manager bot is available, and could probably be used to automate verification process after some modifications. 01miki10 Open comlink 18:08, June 22, 2020 (UTC)
- Deleting comments will be against this policy, but what about editing comments as well?--Vitus InfinitusTalk 22:34, June 22, 2020 (UTC)
- For now, editing comments is fine. However, if we see that people are abusing that ability to circumvent NPA or other policies, we will consider banning editing comments too. Tommy-Macaroni 22:43, June 22, 2020 (UTC)
- Understandable. I was curious since I use it to fix my occasional grammar error.--Vitus InfinitusTalk 22:50, June 22, 2020 (UTC)
- I'm all for the deletion policy in accordance to our talk page policies as the comments posted would technically be part of the community, however, what of the occasional accidental post? Sometimes, people may accidentally miss the apostrophe or shift button and click enter, therefore posting an incomplete comment. Occasionally, I've made that mistake and ended up posting a single letter while trying to hit the apostrophe but missed and hit enter instead. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

- Personally, I think it's easiest for a universal policy of "don't delete comments." That way everyone knows where they stand, and there no room for leeway or slippery slope in the policy. If you accidentally post a comment, just say "ignore that" or "that was my cat" or whatever, the way we've been doing it on IRC for years. Tommy-Macaroni 23:05, June 22, 2020 (UTC)
- Understood. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for clearing it up!
