"The A-wing is a single-pilot craft, but we have found the two seater RZ-1T trainer extremely helped in certifying bust pilots on the equipment. If models are available, we could use A-wing trainers at the flight schools on Homon and Farstey."
―Jun Sato, in a message to Jan Dodonna[1]

Farstey was an unsettled planet in the Expansion Region that became home to a flight school for Senator Mon Mothma's organized rebellion against the Galactic Empire. In a message to General Jan Dodonna between 4 BBY and 3 BBY, rebel Commander Jun Sato recommended having the flight school use RZ-1T trainers. Around 3 ABY, the Imperial Security Bureau was suspicious that Farstey was the site of activity from the since-formalized Rebel Alliance.

Description[]

Farstay was a terrestrial[1] planet[2] in the Expansion Region.[1]

History[]

"Because of reprisals on populated worlds such as Garel and Ghorman, in which civilians took extensive collateral damage during raids, the rebels took to avoiding inhabited worlds, and instead favored unsettled planets."
―Report by Andressa Divo[1]

By the time of the Galactic Empire, Farstey was largely unsettled.[2] However, it eventually became home to a flight school for an organized rebellion against the Empire secretly led by Senator Mon Mothma.[1] Between 4 BBY and 3 BBY,[3] rebel Commander Jun Sato wrote a message to General Jan Dodonna detailing how helpful[1] he[4] had found the RZ-1T trainer in certifying bush pilots for A-wing starfighters, stating that the flight schools at Farstey and the astronomical object Homon could use models of the former if available.[1]

Farstey-SV

Farstey was mapped, albeit in the wrong region, in an Imperial Security Bureau report on suspected Rebel Alliance locations.

In 2 BBY,[5] a map of the galaxy was produced that marked the rebellion's safe worlds, starfighter hubs at level five or higher, operations headquarters, shadow planets, and deep space caches. Farstey was noted as one of three starfighter hubs of level five or above, alongside Homon and[1] the planet[6] Tierfon. The map and Sato's message to Dodonna were both eventually collected by archivist Hendri Underholt, who included them in the compilation of non-electronic documents known as The Rebel Files.[1] The rebellion was formalized as the Rebel Alliance later in 2 BBY.[4]

Around 3 ABY,[7] the Empire grew suspicious of potential rebel activity on Farstey. It was among several unsettled planets identified in an Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) report that designated targets for Viper probe droid surveys by cross-referencing areas with a high degree of suspicious activity with the unsettled parts of the galaxy favored by the Rebel Alliance. The targets were marked on a galactic map in a summary report authored by ISB Agent Andressa Divo, wherein Farstey was incorrectly placed in the Inner Rim Territories.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

RebelAllianceSourcebookFirstEditionCover

In Star Wars Legends, Farstey originated in The Rebel Alliance Sourcebook.

Farstey was introduced into the current Star Wars canon via a mention in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Rebel Files, authored by Daniel Wallace.[1] Originating in the Star Wars Legends continuity, Farstey was first mentioned in "Extract of Minutes from the 251st Meeting of the Alliance High Command," a short companion narrative within the 1990 The Rebel Alliance Sourcebook, written by Paul Murphy and published as part of West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[8]

While Star Wars: The Rebel Files places Farstey in the Expansion Region,[1] Pablo Hidalgo's 2018 reference book Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious instead designates the world as part of the Inner Rim Territories.[2] In line with the Star Wars Legends map placement of the Farstey system, and therefore Farstey, through the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas's Online Companion on StarWars.com,[9] this article treats the placement of Farstey in the Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious map as erroneous.
