Brene was one of several Ubese exiles who were part of a bounty hunter crew led by Boushh. After Boushh rescued her from a rancor, she was the first member to join him.

Biography[]

Brene was a Ubese^[1] female^[2] bounty hunter who was a member of the crew led by fellow Ubese Boushh. By the time of the War of the Bounty Hunters,^[1] she^[3] had been exiled from Uba IV for seven years and a member of Boushh's crew for six. Boushh and Brene met when he rescued her from a rancor and told her to run;^[1] she then became the first to join him.^[3] Fellow exiles Ilini, Hareck, and Tans also joined the group.^[1]

Boushh's crew, including Brene, were hired by Silas Tagge, the brother of Lady Domina Tagge, to kill the Tagge Corporation's Executive Board in an attempted coup. Domina and her Honor Guard successfully thwarted her brother and she hired the crew for herself.^[1] Brene and the others protected their employer from another assassination attempt by Crimson Dawn and her nephew, Ronen Tagge; Lady Domina also defended herself with the Tagge protoblade. Tans remarked that their employer was terrifying and Brene enthusiastically agreed, leading Ilini to comment that the latter had bad taste.^[5]

Personality and traits[]

Brene had a fondness for puns and telling jokes in the middle of a firefight.^[5] She also enjoyed sharing the story of how she met Boushh when he rescued her from a rancor.^[1]

Skills and abilities[]

In addition to Ubese, Brene could understand and speak the Galactic Basic Standard language.^[6]

Equipment[]

Brene wore a green poncho and a gray and green helmet with a matching visor. She armed herself with a pair of small blaster pistols.^[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Brene first appeared in one-shot issue War of the Bounty Hunters – Boushh 1, part of the comic book crossover Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters, which was written by Alyssa Wong and illustrated by David Baldeón.^[1] Wong shared further details from their script notes via Twitter, including observations about Brene's personality and she/her pronouns. Her name is a reference to the Breen from Star Trek.^[3] The author later confirmed Brene's gender and shared additional script notes from a scene in the series' twenty-eighth issue.^[2]
