"I'm more of a poncho guy."
―Cal Kestis[1]
Jango Fett Poncho USW

Jango Fett wearing a poncho

Poncho was the name given to an article of clothing worn by several individuals. Some beings who have worn ponchos in their lives were Qui-Gon Jinn, Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, and Rey. They have been worn on several planets, including Tatooine[2] and Endor.[3]

After Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa escaped from the Death Star to the Millennium Falcon, Organa draped a poncho over Skywalker's shoulders, for which he was grateful while he was mourning the loss of Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, he passed it back to her before leaving the area to man the ship's gun port.[4] The bounty hunter, Jango Fett, was known to sometimes wear a poncho over his armor.[5] During his quest to restore the Jedi Order, the Jedi Knight Cal Kestis wore various ponchos found on the planets he visited.[6] Members of the Alazmec of Winsit Sith cult on Mustafar wore weather-resistant ponchos.[7]

Behind the scenes[]

Ponchos first appeared in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi in 1983.[3]

Ponchos were one of the only cosmetics in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and thus became a meme for the community.[6] When the sequel to Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, released in 2023, it featured a poncho guarded by the Spawn of Oggdo alongside the achievement "A Presence I've Not Felt Since..." when the poncho is equipped by the player.[1] The poncho meme in the Star Wars Jedi games became so popular that Cameron Monaghan, the actor who portrayed Cal Kestis, would, supposedly, not play the role if a poncho was not present in the game.[8]
