- "I hope you like traditional Zabrak love ballads, because they're each like twenty verses long, and once the adults get into the spiced wine, it's all over for—"
"If I tell you my name, will you shut up?" - ―Zyle Keem and Driggit Parse
Zabrak love ballads were a type of traditional Zabrak music that had around twenty verses. During the High Republic Era, the Zabrak Keem family's adults sang the ballads after becoming drunk on spiced wine during family gatherings.[1] In 229 BBY,[2] Zyle Keem was apprehended by the Nihil recruit Driggit Parse on the Outer Rim planet Valo for being out past curfew. To escape from her, Keem began attempting to annoy her by rapidly conversing with her about obscure topics in their life, including how the adults at their family gatherings would become drunk on spiced wine and sing the love ballads despite their length.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Zabrak love ballads were mentioned in Escape from Valo, a 2024 junior novel written by Daniel José Older and Alyssa Wong as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[3]
