"As clean as his books were, our esteemed senator couldn't wipe the grime of Pyke affiliation off everything in his office."
―From the notes of Tanivos Divo[1]

Yudrish Sedran was a Galactic Republic senator who represented the planet Chalacta in the Galactic Senate. He was investigated by the Coruscant Security Force after accusations were made that he was receiving bribes from the criminal Pyke Syndicate. While searching the senator's offices, the security force discovered a portrait of Pyke capo Lom Pyke in 7941 C.R.C.. Sedran claimed it was a cultural exchange gift, and his legal team was ultimately able to clear Sedran of the charges.

Biography[]

"Found in the possession of Senator Yudrish Sedran of Chalacta, this portrait of Pyke capo Lom Pyke was said to be a cultural exchange gift from Oba Diah. However, Sedran was under investigation for claims that he was receiving bribes from the Pykes in exchange for turning a blind eye as they spread their operations beyond Pyke space as well as for granting limited diplomatic ambassadorial status, which gave Pyke delegates access to the Senate."

A portrait of Lom Pyke was found in Yudrish Sedran's office while he was under investigation by the Coruscant Security Force.

Yudrish Sedran was an esteemed senator from[1] the Mid Rim[2] planet[3] Chalacta,[1] home of the Chalactan people.[3] He represented his homeworld in the Senate of the Galactic Republic. The Coruscant Security Force—a law enforcement agency on the planet Coruscant, where the Senate was based—opened an investigation into Sedran after claims were made that the senator was being bribed by the criminal Pyke Syndicate to turn a blind eye to the group's expansion beyond Pyke space. The accusations also claimed that Sedran had given limited diplomatic ambassadorial status to Pyke delegates that granted them access to the Senate.[1]

The Coruscant Security Force sealed Sedran's apartments and offices during the investigation and thoroughly examined their contents for evidence, uncovering a portrait of Pyke capo Lom Pyke in one of Sedran's offices in 7941 C.R.C.. The senator claimed that the portrait had been gifted to him as part of a cultural exchange from the unincorporated Pyke homeworld, Oba Diah, but the security force seized it as evidence, and its forensics droids were able to identify grains of Kessel spice in the velvet pile of the canvas.[1]

The "signature" from the spice then allowed sniffer droids and hound teams to track down contraband on the docks of Coruscant's Level 1313. Despite the evidence, Sedran had kept his books clean, and his elite legal team was ultimately able to clear the senator of any charges. Coruscant Security Force Inspector Tanivos Divo kept notes on the portrait and Sedran in his case files, some of which was published by Divo's grandson, Exantor Divo, in his book Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious,[1] which was released in 34 ABY.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

In the current Star Wars canon, Yudrish Sedran was mentioned in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1] The character originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where the senator was mentioned in HoloNet News Vol. 531 #55,[5] a May 10, 2002[6] issue published on the HoloNet News website.[5] The article was written by Hidalgo and Paul Ens.[7]

  4. The latest entries chronologically in Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious are dated to 8011 (C.R.C. date) and gives 7977 (C.R.C. date) as the year that the secret mission to Tatooine took place. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the mission to Tatooine to 0 BBY, 8011 C.R.C. must therefore correspond to around 34 ABY. Scum and Villainy also mentions Hosnian Prime as still being capital of the New Republic, meaning the in-universe Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious must have been published prior to the destruction of the planet, which Galactic Atlas dates to 34 ABY. As the publishing must have occurred between the time of the latest entries and the destruction of Hosnian Prime, it therefore also took place around 34 ABY.
