Vanzell Mar-Klar was a human Jedi Master who secretly worked to train new potential Jedi Knights after the Great Jedi Purge. Mar-Klar's apprentices included Nedriss Narr.[2] Along with other Padawans, the pair traveled to a hidden Jedi Temple with a group of younglings to assess their potential. After lightsaber training and Force exercises, the entire group battled apparitions of Darth Vader and other users of the dark side of the Force. The apparition faced by Nedriss Narr was one of the apprentice's greatest fears.[1]

Mar-Klar was the main character of the now defunct Disney Parks attraction Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, found at multiple Disney theme parks. The character and his students were played by a variety of Disney Parks Cast Members of different ages and genders, with younglings portrayed by park guests.[1] The boots worn by the Cast Members portraying the Jedi Master match those worn by Jedi Master Kelleran Beq, the host of the Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge game show.[2]
