Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple

Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple was a guest experience at various Disney theme parks. It opened at Walt Disney World's Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida on December 1, 2015.^[1] After the park's closing due to COVID-19 restrictions from March to July 2020,^[2] the attraction has yet to reopen. The website for the experience went offline on June 24, 2022^[3] and signs at the Jedi Training stage were removed from the park itself on July 5 of that year.^[4]

The attraction formerly operated at Disneyland in California from December 8, 2015^[5] until it was permanently closed on November 3, 2018^[6], and at Hong Kong Disneyland from June 25, 2016 until its final performance on May 31, 2021.^[7]

This show was an update of the Jedi Training Academy attraction during Star Wars Weekends. This version of the show drew inspiration from new canon works such as Star Wars Rebels and The Force Awakens. This included a new set and premise inspired by the Rebels episode "Path of the Jedi" and the Lothal Jedi Temple featured within that episode, as well as the addition of the Seventh Sister^[1] and later Kylo Ren.^[8]

A group of surviving Jedi, including Jedi Master Vanzell Mar-Klar, their apprentice Nedriss Narr,^[9] two other Padawans, and a group of younglings chosen beforehand visit a Jedi Temple. The younglings are taught a basic combination of lightsaber moves. Then they use the Force to open the doors to the Temple. In the original version of the show, apparitions of Darth Vader and the Seventh Sister then appear, representing the Jedi's fears. Half of the younglings fight Vader, while the others fight the Seventh Sister.^[1] (In later versions, Vader was instead joined by Kylo Ren.)

After the pair of villains have been defeated, they are Force-pushed back into the Temple after the younglings are told to put their lightsabers down. However, one of the Padawans worries that their worst fear, initially Darth Maul, will come out next; at that moment, an apparition of Maul appears and engages the Padawan in a lightsaber duel. She defeats him and is about to kill him before being stopped by the younglings. Yoda, whose voice is heard through the Force, senses fear in all of the Jedi. Maul retreats into the Temple, but after an expression of frustration for not finishing Maul off, he immediately emerges again, only to be Force-pushed back in by the younglings. (In later a version of the show the final enemy was instead Kylo Ren,^[8] while in more recent versions — starting on September 17, 2017 — Ren is the only character who accompanies Vader.)^[10]

The characters and events portrayed in the attraction have not been referenced outside of it. There is no set timeline, other than being set after the Great Jedi Purge. The villain characters that appear are from different eras, but are considered to be apparitions and not actual individuals.

The characters of Vanzell Mar-Klar, Nedriss Narr, and the pair of Padawans assisting them were played by a variety of Disney Parks Cast Members of different ages and genders, though their names stayed the same. The youngling trainees were made up of children visiting the park who signed up to participate. They were given robes and lightsabers.

In the Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge game show the outfits worn by the Padawans are based on Nedriss Narr's. The boots worn by the show's host Jedi Master Kelleran Beq match those worn by Vanzell Mar-Klar.^[9]
