The Triumphant-class dark trooper was a variant of the dark trooper, a deadly next-generation stormtrooper battle droid used by the Galactic Empire.

History[]

In 1 ABY,[1] a unit of Triumphant-class dark troopers escorted Darth Vader aboard his shuttle ST 321 during the operations Molecular Clamp, Sieve, Lumberjack, Overlord, Green Light, Take Down, Clenched Fist, and Dark Glory in the cities of Bestine on Tatooine, Coronet City on Corellia, and Theed on Naboo.[2] During the Empire Day in 1 ABY, two Triumphant-class dark troopers were deployed to escort the Imperial enforcer, Darth Vader, to the festivities in Theed in order to present loyal personnel with various awards.

Behind the scenes[]

In Star Wars Galaxies, Darth Vader, his shuttle, and several of these dark troopers appear in one of the three cities at erratic time intervals. Players of the Imperial faction can talk to Vader to receive four consecutive quests that consist of killing Rebel Non-Player Characters and players.[2] Two Triumphant-class dark troopers were found during the Empire Day events. Although they were sometimes referred to as BCP-53 and BCP-62, these were actually the result of random name generators in the game, with their true designations being unknown.

It is not known whether these dark troopers are droids or living beings. As with all dark trooper variants in Star Wars Galaxies, they do not use their jetpack or assault cannons.

Notes and references[]

  1. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
