Tintel was an Expansion Region celestial body located in the Belasco sector. During the Galactic Civil War, it served as one of the mid-race stopping points of the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade, a popular interstellar racing route. The racer and undercover Rebel Alliance operative Siro Simito once participated in the race, during which he made a detour from the segment of the race's route connecting Tintel to the Azna system in order to make a delivery for the Alliance on the astronomical object Fait d'Fait.

Tintel was a celestial body[3] located in the Tintel system, a part of the Belasco sector[1] in the Slice portion of[2] the Expansion Region.[1] It was situated on a hyperlane that connected it to the Azna system[3] of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and lay at a distance of no more than seven days' hyperspace travel with a Class 1 hyperdrive from[3] the Mid Rim's[1] world[4] Ord Dorlass.[3]

The pilot Siro Simito visited Tintel as part of the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade race.
During the Galactic Civil War, Tintel served as the second of the three mid-race stopping points of the popular[3] annual[5] Star Rally interstellar racing route known as the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade. At one point, the racer and undercover Rebel Alliance operative Siro Simito was tasked by the Alliance to deliver a data module from[3] the Outer Rim Territories[1] celestial body Dahvil to a contact on[3] the Mid Rim[1] astronomical object Fait d'Fait while participating in the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade. Simito intentionally decreased the hyperdrive efficiency of his starship on the first legs of the race's route so that he would not later make a suspicious delay on the segment of the route where the racer planned to make a detour to Fait d'Fait from the hyperlane connecting Tintel and the planet Azna.[3]
By the time he reached Tintel, Simito was in fourth place, after his rival Seeg. From there, in contrast to the other racers who departed straight for Azna, the Rebel agent then diverted his ship to Fait d'Fait to make his delivery. At some point by the time that shortly followed the Battle of Yavin, Rebel Alliance General Airen Cracken included Simito's report, which mentioned the racer's visit to Tintel during the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade, in a datafile detailing various Rebel operatives.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
Tintel was created by Chuck Truett and was introduced in Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a 1994 West End Games sourcebook published for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Tintel system, and therefore the celestial body itself, in grid square P-11.[2]
