Fait d'Fait was a Mid Rim celestial body located in the Venaarian sector. Around 3643 BBY, criminal syndicates recruited an off-worlder to help them manipulate a governor of Fait d'Fait, who pursued anti–organized crime policies. Later, during the Galactic Civil War, the racer Siro Simito visited Fait d'Fait on a detour during the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade starship race. Simito, an undercover Rebel Alliance agent, had been tasked with delivering a data module from the astronomical object Dahvil to a contact on Fait d'Fait—a handoff which Simito carried out smoothly despite being briefly accosted by a Barabel mugger in Fait d'Fait's city.

Fait d'Fait was a terrestrial celestial body^[3] located in the Fait d'Fait system, a part of the Venaarian sector^[1] in the Trans-Hydian portion of^[2] the Mid Rim.^[1] It lay at a distance of no more than a day's hyperspace travel with a Class 1 hyperdrive from^[3] the Outer Rim Territories^[1] planet Azna and less than eight days of travel away from^[3] the Iskin sector^[1] world^[4] Ord Dorlass.^[3]

History[]

Dirt on the governor[]

Around 3643 BBY,^[5] the governor of Fait d'Fait ran a strong anti–organized crime platform. In response, a number of criminal syndicates looked for an off-worlder who could convince the governor to reconsider his policies. An individual affiliated with one of the sides in the ongoing struggle between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire tasked a companion to help the criminals. Eventually, the companion uncovered embarrassing information about the governor that would allow the grateful syndicates to manipulate the politician indefinitely.^[6]

Detour by a racer[]

At one point during the Galactic Civil War^[3] and between 2 BBY and approximately 0 ABY,^[7] the racer and undercover Rebel Alliance operative Siro Simito was tasked by the Alliance to deliver a data module from^[3] the Outer Rim Territories^[1] celestial body Dahvil to a contact on Fait d'Fait while participating in the popular^[3] annual^[8] Star Rally interstellar racing event known as the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade. Simito intentionally decreased the hyperdrive efficiency of his starship on the first legs of the race's route so that he would not later make a suspicious delay on the segment of the route where the racer planned to make a detour to Fait d'Fait from the hyperlane connecting the celestial bodies Tintel and Azna.^[3]

On the fifteenth day of the race, Simito arrived on Fait d'Fait, docking his ship in a warehouse owned by Gevil Flan. The undercover Rebel agent then changed out his racer clothes and into a plain coverall and, arming himself with a vibro-ax, went to the hotel where he was supposed to meet his contact. Although the latter arrived more than an hour later, the handoff of the data module otherwise occurred smoothly.^[3]

A short delay[]

Outside the hotel, however, Simito was accosted by a Barabel mugger, who demanded the racer turn over his axe and credits. Despite his background as a space pirate, Simito was unwilling to engage in violence, so instead of simply attacking the Barabel with his weapon, he began acting crazed and overly aggressive, yelling at the mugger and threatening to engage him in a fist fight. The Barabel, despite being armed with a blaster, became unnerved at the display and fled the scene, leaving Simito free to return to his starship and resume the race toward Azna.^[3]

The delay of Simito's contact on Fait d'Fait made the racer recalculate his hyperspace jump from the celestial body, ultimately causing him to arrive at Azna two hours later than expected. At some point by the time the Battle of Yavin was fought, Rebel Alliance General Airen Cracken included Simito's report, which described the racer's visit to Fait d'Fait during the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade, in a datafile detailing various Rebel operatives.^[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Fait d'Fait was created by Chuck Truett and was introduced in Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a 1994 West End Games sourcebook published for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.^[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Fait d'Fait system, and therefore the celestial body itself, in grid square O-7.^[2] Fait d'Fait was mentioned in an Underworld Trading Crew Skill mission of the 2011 BioWare video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, though the information regarding the mission's outcome was later removed from the game.^[6]
