This article is about the poncho. You may be looking for the poet Sumi Zanthe.

"Huh, there was something in there."
―Cal Kestis discovers the materials for the Sumi poncho[1]

Sumi was a pink poncho with a white panel on the front and a ribbed white yoke around the neck. The fugitive Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis found the material to create the Sumi poncho in a chest inside the cave of an Oggdo Bogdo in the Bogdo Sinkholes on the planet Bogano[1] in 14 BBY.[3] Kestis then wore the pink poncho as a staple of his wardrobe,[2] but would later look back on his use of it as a poor fashion choice when judging the armor of the Imperial Inquisitor known as the Fifth Brother[4] at some point between 12 and 11 BBY.[5]

By 9 BBY,[6] the dirtied Sumi poncho was stored in wooden chest in a pit below Fort Kah'lin on the planet Koboh, where the Bedlam Raiders group kept an oggdo known as the Spawn of Oggdo.[2]

This section of the article assumes 100% game completion. Any alternate stories may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canon.

In 9 BBY,[6] Kestis fell into the pit and slew the oggdo before claiming the Sumi poncho and donning it.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Sumi appeared in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order as an optional collectible outfit for players to find. In the game a pink, green, and white skin for the droid BD-1 shares its name with the poncho.[1] Released on March 7, 2023,[7] the novel Jedi: Battle Scars by Sam Maggs confirms that Kestis canonically fought the Oggdo Bogdo and found the outfit.[4] A Sumi poncho then once again appeared as an optional collectible in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,[2] which was released on April 28, 2023.[8] In Survivor, the player must wear the poncho to earn the achievement or trophy "A Presence I've Not Felt Since…," and so this article assumes Kestis discovered and wore the poncho. Players can choose to alter the colors of the poncho in Survivor with five other designs available, including color combinations[2] that match the ponchos Bracca Scrapper, Starfighter, Commando, and Free Kashyyyk from Fallen Order.[1]
