- "Particular caution is required when dealing with the world Bogano's top predator, as the Oggdo Bogdos are the undisputed top of the local food chain. The four-legged species has an intimidating appearance from the outset, with its long, sharp teeth and three bright green eyes on the front of its head."
- ―"Species from A to Z"
The Oggdo Bogdo was a rare subspecies of the Oggdo, a dangerous apex predator native to the Outer Rim planet Bogano. Highly aggressive and ferocious, the creature was larger and much deadlier than a common Oggdo, boasting a highly lightsaber-resistant shell and tremendous strength.
Biology and appearance[]
- "That thing looks like it smells worse than Greez does."
- ―Cal Kestis
Oggdo Bogdos had tremendously resilient shells that could repel even lightsaber blades. They boasted three eyes and a prehensile tongue[1] that was eight meters long[3] and could shoot out and grab prey, pulling them into their jaws. Despite their size, they were just as agile as they were powerful, able to leap around the environment to reposition themselves when hunting prey.[1]
Behavior[]
Oggdo Bogdos were considered to be far deadlier than their more common counterparts. While hunting down their prey, they would constantly maneuver to inflict greater injuries at a closer range.[1]
History[]
During the Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis' quest to rebuild the Jedi Order[1] in 14 BBY,[4] he encountered and killed an Oggdo Bogdo in the Bogdo Sinkholes on Bogano.[1][5]
- "I sense a foul presence... No, it couldn't be."
- ―Cal Kestis
Five years later, on the planet Koboh in 9 BBY[6], Kestis encountered the Spawn of Oggdo, a vicious and even stronger Oggdo Bogdo that may have been descended from the creature he slew on Bogano. After killing it, Cal connected with a worrt through the Force, realizing that it was "judging him."[2]
Kestis also found a wounded echo in the Force within the Rambler's Reach outpost, which required him to fight both the Spawn of Oggdo and its progenitor within his mind in order to heal the echo's wound.[2]
Kestis's ecounter with the Oggdo Boggdo was included in an entry in "Species From A to Z," a survival compendium sent out by Carson Teva during the New Republic Era.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The Oggdo Bogdo first appeared in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order developed by Respawn Entertainment. In the game, the creature serves as an optional boss on Bogano, and is one of the four "legendary creatures" that the player needs to defeat in order to achieve 100% game completion.[1] The novel Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars later confirmed that Cal Kestis had indeed battled an Oggdo Bogdo at one point during his life, while his defeat of the specific individual seen in Fallen Order was canonized in the 2023 sequel to Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.[5]
A second, substantially more difficult variant, the "Spawn of Oggdo," is featured in Fallen Order's sequel, Survivor, where it serves as a hidden and optional boss on the planet Koboh and rewards the player with the poncho from Fallen Order upon its defeat. The Spawn of Oggdo is also featured as an optional encounter in a Force tear in the shop of Doma Dendra, where it is fought alongside the original Oggdo Bogdo from the previous game.[2]
