Sta-Den Eekin was a Klatooinian male Jedi Master who served the Jedi Order during the final years of the Galactic Republic. In 22 BBY, Eekin was part of a strike team, consisting of 200 Jedi Knights, that was sent to the planet Geonosis, where fellow Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi was scheduled to be executed after he was captured by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Eekin was killed during the rescue attempt, which sparked the galaxy-wide Clone Wars.

Biography[]

Geonosis arena

The Petranaki arena, where Eekin died

A Force-sensitive Klatooinian[2] male,[3] Sta-Den Eekin was a Jedi Master who served the Galactic Republic during its waning years.[2] Eekin possessed the power to manipulate and cloud the minds of large crowds.[3][2] In 22 BBY,[1] Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi was captured and sentenced to death by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during a mission on the[4] Outer Rim[2] planet Geonosis.[4] Jedi High Council member Mace Windu assembled a strike team consisting of 200 Jedi Knights, including Eekin, to rescue Kenobi from the Confederacy.[2]

Infiltrating the Petranaki arena, the location of the execution, Eekin[2] and his fellow Jedi revealed themselves by activating their lightsabers.[4] In retaliation against the strike team's presence, Geonosian warriors and Confederate battle droids attacked the Jedi,[4] sparking the Battle of Geonosis, the opening engagement of the Clone Wars.[1] Eekin fought on the upper half of the arena's tribune, but his power to manipulate minds proved ineffective against the battle droids,[2] and the Klatooinian perished in the fight.[3] Though the Jedi and Galactic Republic won the battle,[4] many Jedi similarly lost their lives.[2]

Powers and abilities[]

Eekin was able to use the Force to cloud the minds of large crowds. However, this ability proved to be useless on Geonosis, as he fought battle droids.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Sta-Den Eekin was first mentioned in Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, a 2003 reference book written by Simon Beecroft and Curtis Saxton.[2]
