This article is about the starship. You may be looking for the methodology known as the squintpipe process.

"Bearing an experimental shield generator and a shimmering new energy skin, the cannonship Squintpipe threaded the enemy formation at Immalia, halting the orbital bombardment and sending the surviving ships scurrying for the jump beacon."
―Supreme Chancellor Nagratha[1]

The Squintpipe was a Galactic Republic cannonship in service by 7811 BBY. That year, the starship saw action when the Signatories of Waymancy carried out an orbital bombardment of Immalia as part of the Waymancy Storm. The Squintpipe, equipped with an energy skin and an experimental shield generator, proved instrumental in halting the Signatories' bombardment.

Description[]

The Squintpipe was a cannonship that was equipped with an experimental deflector shield generator as well as an energy skin that was new[1] by 7811 BBY.[2] The cannonship also shared its name with the squintpipe process, a methodology for improving the power generators used aboard starships that the Verpine master crafter Lyns Skutroo unveiled in the 7700s BBY.[3]

History[]

Immalia-EGTW

In 7811 BBY, the Squintpipe saw action at Immalia.

The Squintpipe was in service with the Galactic Republic by 7811 BBY,[2] when the conflict known as the Waymancy Storm broke out between the Republic and the Signatories of Waymancy. As part of the conflict, the latter carried out an orbital bombardment of the[1] Expansion Region[4] celestial body Immalia, where the Squintpipe then threaded the formation of the Signatories' starships. As a result, the bombardment was ended and the surviving vessels of the Republic's enemy rushed to the nearby hyperspace jump beacon to escape the star system. At a speech delivered on the 25th anniversary of Victory in the Waymancy Storm in 7786 BBY, the Republic's Supreme Chancellor Nagratha noted the Squintpipe's performance at Immalia as one of the heroic moments of the Waymancy Storm.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Squintpipe was originally meant to be mentioned in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart; however, the section that would have mentioned the starship, authored by Daniel Wallace, was cut before the book's release. The information regarding the Squintpipe was later released in 2014 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and[1] Del Rey editor[5] Erich Schoeneweiss containing various cut content from The Essential Guide to Warfare.[1]
