"There's very little to tell that we have not already shared… twice. We had a shipment of protein concentrates we were bringing from a station near Skye to Shuraden. E'ronoh and Eiram are halfway between the two, which is when we were stopped by an unidentified ship. This war is making the pirates come out of every crevice of the galaxy to this area."
―Binnot Ullo, while being questioned on Eirie[3]

Skye was a planet located in the Outer Rim and the Western Reaches. Around 394 BBY, Axel Greylark—the son of the Galactic Republic Senator Kyong Greylark—visited several places around the galaxy before eventually traveling to Skye.

In 382 BBY, Path of the Open Hand cult members Binnot Ullo and Goi Ganok transported a load of the klytobacter bioweapon to the Eiram system and, when caught, lied that they had instead been hauling protein concentrates from a station near Skye to the planet Shuraden when they were attacked by pirates. When being questioned on the Eiram system's moon Eirie, Ullo continued reinforcing his prior story, though those sent to question the pair remained suspicious of their claims. Eventually, Gamok inadvertently revealed that he and Ullo hailed from the planet Dalna instead, bringing their ruse story about Skye to an end.

Description[]

Skye was a planet[4] located in the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Western Reaches[2] that was situated in grid square H-19 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] The world was not far from the Outer Rim's Dalnan sector.[4]

History[]

Greylark's travels[]

"The year after my father died, I said terrible things to my mother. She, in turn, sent me on a grand tour of the galaxy to gain perspective. […] Made it as far as I could and wound up on a little planet called Skye, not far from here, actually."
―Axel Greylark to Gella Nattai[4]

Axel Greylark visited Skye during the High Republic Era.

During the High Republic Era,[4] around 394 BBY,[5] Axel Greylark—the son of the Galactic Republic Senator Kyong Greylark—was sent by his mother on a pleasure tour around the galaxy to gain perspective and heal after the death of his father,[4] Lexxir Greylark.[6] However, Axel abandoned the tour and absconded with his father's starship—the Eventide—and his droid QN-1, visiting several places before eventually traveling to Skye. By the time he reached the world, Axel had run out of money and Kyong had ceased funding his adventures in order to teach him a lesson.[4]

In response, he sought work and began smuggling to make a living. Axel eventually chose to return from Skye to[4] the Core Worlds planet[7] Coruscant, entering a repeating cycle of returning to high society for a time and then later fleeing it to pursue his pleasures again. While serving as a Republic envoy for his mother—who was now the Republic's Supreme Chancellor—on the Outer Rim planet E'ronoh[4] in 382 BBY,[5] Axel told Jedi Knight Gella Nattai about his travels to Skye, mentioning it was not far from the sector they were in.[4]

Lies and trickery[]

Goi Ganok: "Look, Binnot! I think I see a set of pin dice in there. The kind we played on Dalna when we were kids."
Phan-tu Zenn: "Dalna? I thought you said you were from near Skye. The only people from Dalna of late who have ventured beyond the planet are members of the Path of the Open Hand."
Binnot Ullo: "Ah, no. Goi said it was played on Dalna, as well as near Skye, and Shuraden. It's a common game."
Xiri Al'baran: "That is not what Goi said. You said you played it on Dalna."
―Goi Ganok, Phan-tu Zenn, Binnot Ullo, and Xiri Al'baran on Eirie[3]

Binnot Ullo and Goi Gamok traveled to the Eiram system (pictured), claiming to be transporting goods from Skye's vicinity to Shuraden.

The same year,[8] Path of the Open Hand cult operatives Binnot Ullo and Goi Ganok were sent to the Eiram system on a transport laden with the klytobacter bioweapon to disrupt the fragile peace between E'ronoh and its twin world—the Outer Rim planet Eiram. The pair purposefully sabotaged their vessel in order to land on the system's moon Eirie—supposedly for repairs but in reality hoping that the bioweapon aboard their ship would be discovered and cause tension in the Eiram system. When Eirami Captain Plana Van boarded the vessel, Ullo lied to her and claimed their ship was transporting goods from a station near Skye—using the Eiram system as a shortcut—when they had been attacked by pirates.[3]

Upon investigation, Van discovered the klytobacter aboard the Path of the Open Hand's vessel, resulting in Ullo and Ganok being put into custody in an Eirie waystation. Jedi Master Char-Ryl-Roy, Jedi Padawan Enya Keen, Prince Phan-tu Zenn, and Princess Xiri A'lbaran went to visit the two operatives. Throughout the questioning, Ullo continued to claim that they had been unaware of the klytobacter on their ship, having only been hired to transport protein concentrates from near Skye to[3] the planet[9] Shuraden. He continued to embellish his story with additional details to make the lie more believable, mentioning that he provided for his family and cared for Ganok as a relative, all of whom hailed from a station near the planet.[3]

Char-Ryl-Roy (pictured) helped investigate Binnot Ullo's claims of hauling goods from Skye.

The Jedi and royals remained suspicious of the operative's polished tone when reciting his story about Skye, sensing that it sounded rehearsed. When Ullo and Ganok were taken on a short tour of Eirie, the latter mentioned the planet Dalna and how the pair used to play with pin dice there as children. Now aware of Ullo and Ganok's ties to the Path of the Open Hand, the Jedi and royals began pressing them about the klytobacter's origins, despite the former's attempts to redirect the conversation away from Dalna back to Skye. Ganok was killed shortly afterward when the situation turned violent, and Ullo eventually managed to escape Eirie. Afterward, A'lbaran, Char-Ryl-Roy, and Keen traveled to Dalna to speak with the Path of the Open Hand, telling Elder Yulon Onning of the two individuals' story about transporting goods from Skye to Shuraden. However, Onning felt threatened by the conversation and accused them of bad faith, resulting in a breakdown of negotiations between the two parties.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Skye

Skye, as depicted in the Star Wars Legends continuity

Skye was first introduced in the current Star Wars canon via a map included in the 2016 Fantasy Flight Games roleplaying boxed set Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game.[10] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Skye—also known under the name Marat V—was a planet that first appeared in Star Wars Annual 1, a 1979 installment of Marvel Comics'[11] 1977[12] Star Wars series of comic books. The issue was written by Chris Claremont and penciled by Mike Vosburg.[11]

In Legends, the planet was placed in the Marat system—also known as the Skye system—by the article "The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life: The Marvel Series," published by Wizards of the Coast in the first issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine[13] in November 2000.[14] The Marat system was first mentioned in the current canon in Path of Vengeance, a 2023 novel written by Cavan Scott[15] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase II, though no connection to Skye has been established.[16]
