A Sith cultist, also referred to as a Sith acolyte, Sith loyalist, or Sith occultist, was an adherer of a Sith cult who practiced the beliefs of the Sith and venerated the dark side of the Force. One such cult, the Acolytes of the Beyond, sought to collect Sith artifacts such as Darth Vader's lightsaber, while another group, the Alazmec of Winsit, revered the Sith Lord Darth Vader as ruler of the galaxy. Though the Jedi prophecy of the Chosen One was fulfilled at the Battle of Endor by a redeemed Darth Vader, the Sith Eternal cult preserved the destroyed Sith religion on the ancient Sith world of Exegol. Led by the revived Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, the Sith Eternal labored for a generation to build the Final Order, a large fleet of Sith Star Destroyers, which was ready for deployment by the last days of the First Order-Resistance War. However, the Sith Eternal fell with its fleet during the decisive Battle of Exegol.

Early history[]

Early Sith cultists attempted to excavate the enormous fissures found on the Sith world of Exegol in order to reach the vergence beneath the planet's surface.^[1] The Sith Lord Darth Momin, though he never took on an apprentice as a result of his beliefs, was aided in his efforts by a group of acolytes that sought desperately to aid their master in the creation of a weapon capable of razing an entire city.^[4]

Imperial Era[]

Vader-kills-cultists — Sith cultists operated on the planet Exegol, serving the Sith Lord Darth Sidious since the time of the Galactic Empire.

By the time of the Imperial Era, the Sith cult known as the Sith Eternal existed on Exegol, where they had settled in the Sith Citadel^[1] and served the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, the Emperor of the Galactic Empire. Among his loyalists was the Jedi hunter and Sith assassin Ochi of Bestoon.^[6] Around 3 ABY,^[7] after the Duel on Cloud City, Sidious' Sith apprentice Darth Vader discovered his master's hidden world^[8] when he acquired a Sith wayfinder from the Eye of Webbish Bog.^[9] Vader intended to kill his master and uncover his secrets, but he was beaten back into submission after witnessing the tremendous power he had built up with the help of the Sith cultists, including the creation of a number of strandcasts, the development of a number of Star Destroyers with planet-destroying cannons, and the tortuous harvesting of a mountain of kyber crystals. During his time on Exegol, Vader was attacked by a group of Sith cultists armed with daggers. With Sidious taunting Vader with the claim that any of those cultists could replace him as a Sith apprentice, Vader killed them by hurling their blades into the air and piercing the cultists with them by means of the Force.^[6]

New Republic Era[]

Vader Sidious — Darth Sidious and Darth Vader were venerated by various Sith cults during the era of the New Republic.

By the time of the New Republic Era, Sith cults such as the Acolytes of the Beyond venerated the last two Dark Lords of the Sith, Darth Sidious and Darth Vader.^[10] The Acolytes were not Force-sensitive, yet claimed to have received dreams from deceased Sith and even to have communed with their shades. They were led by individuals, such as Yupe Tashu, who were members of the Emperor's inner circle during his reign. They sought to acquire Sith artifacts and opposed the New Republic, sometimes to the point of violence.^[3] Ochi of Bestoon, an old Jedi hunter,^[2] was a member of the Acolytes.^[1]

After the redemption of Darth Vader at the Battle of Endor, and Anakin Skywalker's subsequent death, cults to Vader arose on his throneworld of Mustafar to venerate his power. One of these cults, the Alazmec of Winsit, resided in the Corvax Fen, near the ruins of Vader's fortress, and came into possession of his Sith wayfinder.^[1] Much of the cult was cut down at the behest of Kylo Ren, the Supreme Leader of the First Order, when he invaded Mustafar in search of the source behind a broadcast using the voice of the late Emperor in order to kill them and secure his power from any challengers.^[2]

SithEternal-DB — The Sith tradition was preserved on the planet Exegol by the Sith Eternal cult.

The Sith Eternal kept the Sith tradition alive after the deaths of the last two Sith Lords, Darth Sidious and Darth Vader.^[1] After his fall at Endor, the resurrected Darth Sidious was buoyed in a clone body by the Sith Eternal,^[11] who further assisted him in creating Snoke through various dark side rituals.^[1] They also labored for a generation to build the Final Order, the largest fleet in galactic history^[2] with the objective of establishing a new Sith Empire throughout the galaxy.^[1] However, Sidious and his followers were defeated^[2] in 35 ABY^[12] when the Jedi apprentice Rey, with the help of the spirits of the Jedi past, destroyed the Emperor, her grandfather, causing the Sith Citadel's ceiling to collapse and crush the thousands of followers present.^[2]
