The Serenade was a heavy cruiser that served among the New Republic's fleet during the Galactic Civil War. Taking part in the New Republic's attack on the Galactic Empire's loyalist forces at the planet Jakku, it was destroyed by the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing. When looking into the Serenade's loss, the New Republic General Hera Syndulla discovered what the 204th was doing above Jakku.

During the Galactic Civil War, the heavy cruiser Serenade served as part of the fleet of the New Republic.[1] In 5 ABY,[2] it took part in a large attack on the loyalist forces of the Galactic Empire at the planet Jakku. During the fighting, the Serenade was positioned at the fringe of the battle. However, it became the target of the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing, which produced a particle radiation effect to hide from scanners and sever the cruiser's communications.[1]
The Serenade was silently destroyed by the 204th, and the heavy cruiser's loss in communication was noticed by comscan officer Dhina aboard the New Republic's refitted Star Destroyer Deliverance. The Star Destroyer's commanding officer General Hera Syndulla soon learned that the Serenade was one of three heavy cruisers located at the fringe of the battle that had experienced a loss in communication, the other two being the Hunting Hound and Brightsaber. She then deduced that the 204th was responsible for the destruction of the three cruisers.[1]
