The Rod of Power was a Force artifact formed from combining the Rod of Daybreak and the Rod of Seasons, two of a set of three rods used control the Nameless species. Unlike the two rods individually, the Rod of Power provided complete control of the Nameless, the creatures unable to resist unless the user of the Rod was trying to control multiple at once. It was also able to amplify the effects of the Nameless to affect Force-sensitives even when there were no Nameless in the same room, just nearby.[1]
During the Battle of Jedha,[3] in 382 BBY,[4] the Herald of the Path of the Open Hand cult, Werth Plouth, united the Rod of Seasons and Rod of Daybreak. He "tested" it by using it to order the Leveler, one of the Nameless, to kill Jedi Master Leebon.[3] However, the Rod was split into its two parts once again during an ensuing fight against Jedi. Elecia Zeveron, the Mother of the Path of the Open Hand, would later unite the two Rods again shortly before the Night of Sorrow. She and the Path's Guide, Marda Ro, used the Rod of Power to attack the Jedi with the Nameless during the Night of Sorrow.[1]
The rod passed down through the Ro family, until Marda's descendant Marchion Ro came to acquire it.[2] In 228 BBY,[5] while investigating the blight plague on the planet Vixoseph I, Marchion used the rod to walk into the blight, remaining unharmed.[2]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: Temptation of the Force takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon and its events span a few months, its events must be set in 228 BBY.
