Mirial was a cold and dry desert planet located in the Mirial system of the Outer Rim Territories. It was the homeworld of the near-human Mirialan species, including Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and her Padawan Barriss Offee. Unduli honored the traditions of the world by selecting a fellow Mirialan as her apprentice.

Description[]

Mirial was located in the Mirial system[2] of the Outer Rim Territories, situated in grid square Q-4 of the Standard Galactic Grid. It was positioned on a hyperspace route connecting it to Listehol.[1] A cold, dry,[3] desert[4] planet,[7] Mirial's landscape was pink and green in hue.[8]

History[]

Disciple of the Whills Kozem Pel included a quote from Mete Janvaren of Mirial in the book Collected Poems, Prayers, and Meditations on the Force.[9]

During the final decades of the Republic Era, Mirialan Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and her Padawan, Barriss Offee, both hailed from Mirial. Unduli took Offee as her apprentice in accordance with Mirialan tradition.[5] New Republic pilot Keo Venzee also hailed from the planet.[10]

Pirate Synara San, who was active during the New Republic Era and Cold War, hailed from Mirial.[11] Around 31–32 ABY,[12] the Force-sensitive human Karr Nuq Sin and his half-Mirialan friend Maize Raynshi went on a journey through the Outer Rim looking for Force-related artifacts. While visiting the planet Utapau, the duo lied to the merchant Sconto that they were investigating the effects of the fall of the Galactic Republic on "out-of-the-way" locales, and intended to continue on to Mirial next.[6]

During or after 34 ABY,[13] the chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for Mirial Teacakes, a pastry named for the planet, in his second cookbook. Noting that the cakes were so named due to sharing a color scheme with Mirial's landscape, Tuggs commented that they were not nearly so dry as their namesake.[8]

Inhabitants[]

Mirial was the homeworld of the near-human Mirialan species, who looked mostly human except for green[5] or purple[11] skin. It was traditional for Mirialan Jedi to take other members of their species as their apprentices, a tradition Unduli followed,[5] although other Mirialan Jedi, such as Vernestra Rwoh[14] and Cyslin Myr, chose to teach members of other species.[15]

Behind the scenes[]

Mirial was first canonically mentioned in the 2015 reference book Ultimate Star Wars.[5] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Mirial was created for James Luceno's 2001 novel Cloak of Deception.[16]
