"I enjoy this tasty treat year-round, but it's become a huge hit 'round Life Day, since the vibrant red hues seem to remind folks of the fancy robes that Wookiees wear durin' their sacred celebration."
―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook[2]

Millaflower Toast was a snack food that consisted of millaflowers, soft moof milk cheese, and fruit or vegetables on toast. Variants with red or yellow flowers existed. Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for the toast in his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook, and the dish was served at Oga's Cantina during the Life Day season in 34 ABY. Its red colors were similar to those of Life Day robes.

Description[]

"These fragrant edible blossoms are native to Naboo and class up just about any dish, turnin' a simple snack into somethin' elegant and exquisite. Don't believe me? Just toast up a slice of bread, spread on some soft moof milk cheese, top it with some local fruit or veg, and then add on a few of these beautiful blooms!"
―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook[2]

Millaflower Toast was a type of snack food that consisted of a piece of brown, toasted bread with white soft moof milk cheese spread on top. The dish could have a topping of red millaflowers and a mixture of red fruit or red vegetables,[2] or a topping consisting of a strip of red spread down one side with a mixture of yellow flowers and black, white, red, and yellow fruits on top and then white and black garnish sprinkled across the rest of the bread, which was thinner in this variant.[1]

History[]

"As a chef, it ain't just my job to make food taste good. If I want my customers to pop somethin' new into one of their mouth holes, I gotta make it look and smell good, too. Thanks to the millaflower, that part of my job is easy."
―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook[2]

Millaflower Toast was served during Life Day at Oga's Cantina in Black Spire Outpost.

At some point after publishing his first cookbook[2] in 34 ABY,[3] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for the red flower version of Millaflower Toast in the snacks and appetizers section of his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook. Tuggs suggested using local fruit and vegetables for the topping and claimed that the inclusion of the fragrant millaflowers turned any simple snack into an elegant and exquisite dish.[2]

The Artiodac enjoyed eating the dish all year round but stated that the dish had become especially popular around the Life Day festival, as the bright red color of the toppings reminded people of the robes worn by members of the Wookiee species during the celebration.[2] During the First Order's occupation of the planet Batuu[1] in 34 ABY,[4] the yellow flower version of Millaflower Toast was sold during the Life Day period at Oga's Cantina, a cantina in Black Spire Outpost on the planet.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Millaflower Toast was created as a recipe for the 2021 Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe uses ricotta cheese, lemon zest, ciabatta slices, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, extra virgin olive oil, salt, black pepper, balsamic vinegar, honey, and edible flowers such as garden pansies, cornflowers, nasturtiums, or marigolds.[2]

A version of Millaflower Toast was made available to guests in the themed land Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Park through a limited time Life Day menu available while supplies last at Oga's Cantina from November 17, 2023, until January 9, 2024.[5] The toast is available as a snack during all meal periods and its recipe consists of toasted crepes with whipped ricotta cream, strawberries, yogurt pearls, frosted cranberries, hazelnut powder, and marigold petals.[6]
