A life-fasting bracelet was, according to the rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra, a jewel that was a rare and priceless artifact from a lost civilization known as the Lengilese. In 3 ABY, Aphra disguised a number of detonite ring explosives to resemble a life-fasting bracelet, and used one of the rings to acquire information from the crime boss Lady Proxima on the Core Worlds planet Corellia about an artifact she had been hired to track down. Following this, the archaeologist used a number of the rings to help her and the smuggler Sana Starros escape from General Vukorah of the Unbroken Clan criminal syndicate.

According to the rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra, a life-fasting bracelet was a rare and priceless jewel from the civilization known as the Lengilese. When she mimicked a bracelet for^[1] the crime boss^[2] Lady Proxima, Aphra painted the rings silver.^[1]

History[]

By 3 ABY,^[3] the Lengilese civilization, from which Doctor Aphra stated that the life-fasting bracelet originated, was also said by her to be lost.^[1] That year,^[3] Aphra was hired by the Tagge Corporation leader, Lady Domina Tagge, to track down and steal a Path engine—a type of hyperdrive used by Nihil pirates centuries before—from a rival of Tagge's.^[4] In order to do so, the archaeologist traveled to^[1] the Core Worlds^[2] planet Corellia to acquire information on the artifact from Lady Proxima. After she arrived on Corellia, Aphra unsuccessfully tried to persuade the smuggler Sana Starros to bring her to Proxima, with Starros dragging the archaeologist out of her crash pad. As she stayed outside the crash pad overnight, Aphra painted a large number of detonite ring explosives she had—due to the number of arms Proxima possessed—to imitate life-fasting bracelets.^[1]

The following day, Starros agreed to bring the archaeologist to the crime boss, though when she introduced Aphra, Proxima grew angry and shouted the archaeologist's name. To prevent herself from being torn to pieces, Aphra pulled out one of the disguised detonite rings from her bag and told the crime boss that it was a Lengilese life-fasting bracelet. Proxima—unaware of Aphra's deception—accepted the gift from the archaeologist, providing her with the information she needed. Afterward, Aphra and the smuggler left to retrieve a datapad that belonged to Starros' fellow smuggler Remy, though discovered it was in the possession of Vukorah—a general in the Unbroken Clan criminal syndicate—after she had killed him.^[1]

After they located Vukorah, the archaeologist rolled one of the bracelets towards the general and briefly incapacitated her once it exploded. Seeing what the bracelet had done, Starros expressed doubt that the rings were actually what Aphra had claimed, informing the archaeologist that she knew of their true nature when she picked up some of its wreckage. As they fled after recovering Remy's datapad, Aphra threw three more rings at pursuing members of the Unbroken Clan, and Starros questioned how many bracelets the archaeologist had painted. In reply, Aphra noted that Proxima had a lot of arms.^[1]
