Kuna's Tooth, also known as the Tooth, was a cool Outer Rim Territories mining planet located in the Moddell sector. The site of an orbital shipyard called Doestes High Port, the planet was governed by a bureaucracy and inhabited by members of the Ayrou, Human, and Vashan species. Years after the Battle of Endor, Kuna's Tooth hosted backalley cookhouses where smuggled-in Rokna tree fungus from the Endor system was processed into the Rokna Blue drug before being transported into the wider galaxy.

Description[]

Kuna's Tooth, also referred to simply as the Tooth, was a terrestrial planet[3] located in the Kuna's Fist system. It lay within the Inner Moddell systems area of[2] the Moddell sector,[1] one of the subsectors making up the Inner Zuma Region[2] within the Outer Rim Territories' Zuma sector.[1]

The planet was connected to the Annaj system by the hyperlane known as the Spar Trade Route, while smaller hyperspace routes linked it to the Kuna's Eye and Qina systems.[2] Kuna's Tooth was so named since it formed a part of the Kuna constellation, as seen and named by the Ayrou species of the planet Maya Kovel.[3]

Kuna Tooth's local year lasted 215 local days, each of which was seventeen standard hours long. Its gravity was ninety percent standard, and it had a breathable Type I atmosphere and a cool climate. The planet's surface terrain was barren.[3]

History[]

Several years after the Battle of Endor[3] of 4 ABY,[2] a smuggling channel for the Rokna Blue drug was developed in the Moddell sector. Smugglers would transport raw Rokna tree fungus from the Endor system to backalley cookhouses on Kuna's Tooth. From there, the refined drug was then smuggled past Moddell customs in the Annaj system and into the wider galaxy.[3] Around 16 ABY,[4] a Rokna Blue processing station was also briefly maintained in the Endor system itself,[3] and three years later, the Rokna Blue trade was no longer successful[5] outside of Moddell.[3]

Inhabitants[]

Inhabited by fifty thousand Humans, thirty thousand Vashans, and ten thousand Ayrou,[3] Kuna's Tooth was a hardscrabble mining world[2] governed by a bureaucracy. The population of the planet had access to space-level technology, and it exported ore off-world, while foodstuffs and mining tools were imported.[3]

Due to the location of Kuna's Tooth between the Moddell sector's capital world Annaj and the rest of the worlds of the Kuna systems, it was caught in a struggle of influence between the relative order of the former and the lawlessness of the latter. As a result, the planet was kept under tight control—at least by the standards of the Moddell sector.[3]

Locations[]

Kuna's Tooth had three spaceports: one standard-class and two of limited services. The planet's orbit also hosted a small shipyard known as Doestes High Port.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Kuna's Tooth was first mentioned in the article "Endor and the Moddell Sector," which was published in the ninth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine[3] on February 22, 2002.[6] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed it in grid square H-16.[2]
