"Freia lures the Neimoidians to Imynusoph, whose natives seem peaceable, though Freia has become rather high-handed in her dealings (Freia and Chorus: 'Bow Down to the Stars')."
―Excerpts from the program for the 38:2:13 premiere of The Kallea Cycle[1]

In the opera The Kallea Cycle, the Imyni were a sentient species from the Outer Rim Territories world Imynusoph. The Human scout Freia Kallea treated them presumptuously while enlisting their aid in exacting revenge on her rivals, the Neimoidians Thoax and Farge Osaax. As a result, when Kallea ordered the Imyni to bind the Osaaxes while she sprung her trap in a temple on Imynusoph, the natives instead turned on all the offworlders, leading to a climactic battle.

Society and culture[]

The Imyni were a sentient species that, in the composer Trebian Shullos's opera The Kallea Cycle, lived on the rumored treasure world Imynusoph, which in reality eventually became a part of the Outer Rim Territories'[1] Kallea sector.[2] In the opera, the Imyni were depicted as seemingly peaceable.[1]

The Kallea Cycle

In the opera The Kallea Cycle, the Imyni turned on Freia Kallea (center; depicted by Vessa Brentioch) after she treated them presumptuously.

In The Kallea Cycle, which depicted the Human scout Freia Kallea overcoming various difficulties in charting the galaxy-spanning Hydian Way hyperlane between 3705 BBY and 3694 BBY, Kallea attempted to exact revenge on her rivals, the Neimoidians Thoax and Farge Osaax, by setting a trap for them on Imynusoph. In the process, she enlisted the aid of the Imyni, though she treated them in a presumptuous manner—as represented by the opera's composition "Bow Down to the Stars." Kallea lured the two Osaaxes to a great temple on Imynusoph, where she revealed herself at a banquet and then ordered the world's natives to bind the Neimoidians.[1]

At that point, however, the Imyni instead turned on all the offworlders present. At the same time, a band of Dug and Gran thugs hired by the Osaaxes for protection arrived on Imynusoph, as did a fleet from the Core Worlds planet Brentaal led by the Human Sival Brentioch, Kallea's patron and member of the noble House Brentioch. During the climactic battle that ensued, the Imynusoph temple was set ablaze, and in the opera's denouement, the Osaaxes were arrested and Kallea and Brentioch departed Imynusoph.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Imyni were introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.[1]
