- "All parts of the armor-production chain will be brought under the Imperial Department of Military Research. It will be a lengthy transition; I am placing Everi Chalis directly in charge."
- ―Count Denetrius Vidian
The Imperial Department of Military Research[5] (IDMR)[13] was a government military research agency[2] within the Galactic Empire's military,[11] with its Dark trooper program falling under an Imperial remnant led by Moff Gideon.[14] Engineers within the IDMR often worked closely with the Imperial Security Bureau to create droids and equipment for secret operations.[15]
The department manufactured the armors used by Imperial stormtroopers,[3] as well as the flight helmets worn by the TIE fighter pilots.[5] It also developed IT-O interrogation droids in secret,[7] as well as 9D9-s54 Dianoga spy droids.[8]
In 11 BBY,[1] Quelton Fabrication and Cladtech were merged and brought under the control of Military Research.[2]

Notes and references[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 "Bottleneck" ends with Rae Sloane's promotion to captain, and A New Dawn refers to her as "the new captain," which means that "Bottleneck" is set shortly before A New Dawn. As Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of A New Dawn to 11 BBY, "Bottleneck" takes place around that year.
