Gale Torg also known as Galen Torg was a human male sergeant assigned to guard and escort senators and dignitaries who visited the Alliance to Restore the Republic's headquarters in the Great Temple on Yavin 4. He carried a DH-17 blaster pistol and wore the uniform of Alderaanian consular security, which featured a service helmet with flash visor and integral comlink and a multi-pocketed spacer vest of Corellian cut.[1]
In 0 BBY,[2] the Alliance managed to destroy the Galactic Empire's planet-killing superweapon, the Death Star, in the Yavin system. During the ceremony held to honor the Heroes of Yavin at the Great Temple, Torg served as a Rebel Honor Guard, standing in front of the audience room's entrance.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The character of Gale Torg was inspired by Galen Torg, a Rebel trooper introduced in Galaxy Guide 1: A New Hope. However, as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story already included a prominent character, Galen Walton Erso, with that first name, Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide author Pablo Hidalgo decided to change Torg's first name.[4]
