Foris alloy was an alloy of a metal mined on a moon of the planet Rilias II. It allowed for an exact resonance with minerals in perma-scatter clouds, a type of cloud found on Rilias II. A funnel made of foris alloy was located in Rilias II's central water garden. At sunrise and sunset, light filtered through perma-scatter clouds and hit the funnel, which constantly gathered thin trickles of water from the garden. The reverberation of the funnel then caused particles in the air to vibrate into small rainbow stars, and also amplified certain audio frequencies.[1]
In 228 BBY,[2] when Rilias II was under the control of the Nihil marauders, the anti-Nihil operative Cair San Tekka took advantage of the interaction between foris alloy and the minerals in perma-scatter clouds to amplify a message recorded by Jedi Master Avar Kriss, which he broadcasted from within the funnel.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Foris alloy appeared in the 2024 novel Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[3]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY.
