Official description[]

A gift from Luke causes Vader to envision lost bonding opportunities with his son.[2]

Plot summary[]

Emperor Palpatine is shuffling his chair in his throne room aboard the second Death Star. Darth Vader stands beside him. Luke Skywalker exits the turbolift and brings a gift wrapped inside a red box. Palpatine uses the Force to hurl away the box and laughs menacingly.

As he motions, Darth Vader descends down the stairs and ignites his red lightsaber. Skywalker ignites his green lightsaber in response. The two engage in a lightsaber duel. Vader gains the upper hand with his mastery of the Force and hurls Skywalker aside. He then levitates and proceeds to Force choke his son. Skywalker chokes but manages to use the Force to summon the red gift package, and removes it cover with the Force.

Skywalker shows his father a mug in the shape of the Death Star with the message "#1 DAD." Vader is touched by his son's gift and releases Skywalker. Skywalker experiences a flashback of him and his father assembling C-3PO at the Lars homestead. Vader then gives Skywalker a lightsaber lesson with a Marksman-H training remote, which fires laser bolts at Skywalker. Vader also gives Skywalker a driving lesson in the Lars family's X-34 landspeeder. They accidentally topple a moisture vaporator, which angers Uncle Owen Lars. The two escape.

Back in the present, Vader extends a hand to his son and the two reconcile. However, an enraged Palpatine attacks Skywalker with Force lightning. Unwilling to lose his son, Vader grabs Palpatine and throws him down the Death Star's shaft. Skywalker hugs Vader. Father and son then share a carton of blue milk.
