This article is about the planet. You may be looking for the convor Ferana or for other uses of "Farana".

"There's a gorocco stalking around Dredger Gorge."
"Oh yeah?"
"Nasty fella. Reminds me of a creature my sister and I hunted on Farana. Fast, strong, tore through everything in its path."
―Mosey Cimmaron and Cal Kestis[3]

Farana was a Wild Space planet where at one point the pirate Hondo Ohnaka acquired the frigate Acushnet and several Flarestar-class attack shuttles from a collector of antiquities. The planet was home to a type of aggressive creature, which the human Mosey Cimmaron and their sister hunted at some point by 9 BBY.

Description[]

Farana was a terrestrial Wild Space planet[1] located in the grid square S-3 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[2] It was home to a type of fierce creature similar to the gorocco of the planet Koboh.[3]

History[]

Weequay mothership

Hondo Ohnaka acquired the Acushnet (pictured) and other starships on Farana.

A collector of antiquities on Farana once maintained an arsenal of starships that included six Flarestar-class attack shuttles and a Corona-class armed frigate—one of a limited run that its manufacturer, Haor Chall Engineering Corporation, had sold off to various interested third parties.[1] At some point by 21 BBY,[4] the Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka accidentally discovered the collector's starships on Farana. The Corona-class frigate piqued Ohnaka's interest, and in order to obtain the ship, the pirate wrought chaos around the planet. Finally, the collector agreed to let Ohnaka just leave Farana with both the frigate—which Ohnaka eventually named the Acushnet—and the Flarestar-class attack shuttles in his possession and promised to not seek retribution against the Weequay. Ohnaka then accepted an additional bribe from the former owner of the vessels before departing the planet.[1] At one point by 9 BBY,[5] the human Mosey Cimmaron and their sister hunted a native creature of Farana, an encounter that Cimmaron later related to the Jedi Knight Cal Kestis on Koboh.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Farana was introduced in the current Star Wars canon in the seventy-second issue of Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine,[1] published around May 18, 2016.[6] Farana was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.[7]
