"When I heard you were cleared for duty, I requested you specifically."
"You're lucky I was available."
―Commander Cody and Crosshair[1]

Crosshair and Cody's team was a squad of clone stormtroopers under the command of Clone Marshal Commander Cody tasked with quashing a Separatist holdout on the planet of Desix. Amongst the team's members was the clone commando Crosshair.

Description[]

"Without a ship, we'll have to infiltrate the city on foot. Half the squad's too injured to continue."
"I've beaten clankers with far less."
―Commander Cody and Crosshair[1]

The squad was comprised of numerous clone stormtroopers and led by Clone Marshal Commander Cody. The squad also included team two, and utilized a Nu-class attack/transport shuttle flown by clone trooper pilots. The clone troopers were equipped with standard Phase II clone trooper armor, and used DC-15A blaster carbines along with a few BT X-42 heavy flame projectors. One clone commando, Crosshair, was also a member of the squad.[1]

History[]

"We have official Imperial orders."
"Desix separated from the Republic years ago, Commander. We are an independent system. Once your government acknowledges this, Grotton and his soldiers will be handed over. Those are my terms"
"We're not here to debate politics with you."
"If you did, you might see how unjust your actions are."
"Your droid army attacked two Imperial convoys."
"We were defending ourselves from a hostile occupation. Your forces are the only threat to my people."
"We are not the enemy. The Empire seeks to establish peace and order throughout the galaxy."
―Commander Cody and Governor Tawni Ames[1]

At the conclusion of the Clone Wars and the rise of the Galactic Empire[1] in 19 BBY,[3] a Confederacy of Independent Systems stronghold on the planet Desix refused Imperial authority and kidnapped their assigned governor, Governor Grotton, and held hostage. As a result, Vice Admiral Edmon Rampart assigned clone commando Crosshair to a squad led by Clone Commander Cody to rescue the governor and established Imperial control.[1]

The squad was transported to the planet in a Nu-class attack/transport shuttle, but as they approached the main city were met with missile fire, resulting in several hits. The shuttle crashed unto the surface near the city's outer perimeter, with several troopers killed in the crash. After eliminating a unit of battle droids sent to check for survivors, Cody, Crosshair, and the contingent of clone survivors moved in and attacked the stronghold. After sustaining several casualties destroying an Armored Assault Tank Mk I and a number of droids, the squad moved in to the main stronghold. The squad split up, with team two tasked with other objectives while Cody, Crosshair, Nova, and Wyler moved in to liberate Governor Grotton. After losing Nova to Commando Droids and Wyler to a Droideka, Cody and Crosshair moved in to Grotton's position, eliminating scores of droids. Once the Separatist holdout's leader, Governor Tawni Ames was persuaded to peacefully surrender, she was executed by Crosshair on the orders of Governor Grotton. Team two finished off any surviving droid forces, and members of the squad were extracted off-world by the same Nu-class shuttle that Grotton previously arrived on as Imperial forces of TK troopers arrived to occupy the planet.[1]

Unsure if the Empire was in the right, Cody abandoned the Imperial Military after the mission. Rampart, who had never bothered to learn Cody's name in the first place and only knew him as CC-2224, assigned Crosshair a new mission under clone trooper officer CC-1226.[1]

  2. Per the reasoning here, the seventh and eighth episodes of The Bad Batch Season 2, "The Clone Conspiracy" and "Truth and Consequences," can be placed in 18 BBY. Therefore, all Season 2 episodes proceeding "The Clone Conspiracy" occur between 19 BBY, which features the end of The Bad Batch Season 1 according to Star Wars: Timelines, and 18 BBY. The Galactic Empire, the formation of which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 19 BBY, sent Mayday's squad to Barton IV over a year prior to the events of the twelfth episode, "The Outpost." As it occurs over a year into the Imperial Era and is set shortly after the events of "Truth and Consequences," the events of "The Outpost" occur around 18 BBY. Following that logic, the ninth through eleventh episodes ("The Crossing" through "Metamorphosis") are also set around 18 BBY because they occur between the events of "Truth and Consequences" and "The Outpost." Finally, all season 2 episodes set after "The Outpost" occur shortly after its events, thereby placing those episodes around 18 BBY as well.
