- "Cho sun is to "dismember," but the term is used specifically in reference to removing an opponent's entire weapon arm."
- ―Cin Drallig
In lightsaber combat, cho sun was the act of cutting off an opponent's weapon arm.
Notable Uses[]
- "Slash off their fighting arms, Goir! You'll take them alive."
- ―Sedriss QL to Vill Goir about Luke Skywalker and Kam Solusar
Sith Lord Ulic Qel-Droma performed a cho sun on his own brother during the Great Sith War, and then killed him.[3] It should be noted that even though Cay Qel-Droma's arm was mechanical, cho sun still applies because it was the arm with which he dueled.
Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi performed cho sun at least four times: in bars on both Coruscant[4] and Tatooine,[5] also during the Battle of Muunilinst while battling the Gen'Dai bounty hunter Durge,[6] and during a duel with A'Sharad Hett on Tatooine.[7]
Jedi Knight Corwin Shelvay executed a cho sun against Imperial High Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne.
Jedi Master Tresina Lobi performed a successful cho sun strike against Dark Lady of the Sith Lumiya, during their duel in Coruscant's Fellowship Plaza.[8]
Jaina Solo performed a cho sun strike on her twin brother Darth Caedus during the Second Battle of Roche, slicing his arm off at the elbow, mirroring his grandfather's injury during his duel with Count Dooku.[9]
Sith Saber Gavar Khai received a cho sun strike from Luke Skywalker in 44 ABY.
Darth Nihl finessed a cho sun while dueling Wolf Sazen during the Massacre at Ossus.[10] Nihl himself lost an arm while fighting Cade Skywalker at the Temple of the Sith.[11]
Mon Calamari Tealart received a cho sun to his right arm from Jedi Master Drok following a failed assassination attempt on Admiral Gar Stazi.
