"I'm in no hurry to die as gloriously as Cappandar, but I'll be no safer aboard the Thunderstrike if we fail here."
―Everi Chalis, to Hazram Namir — (audio) Listen (file info)[2]

Cappandar was an alien who served in the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry. By 3 ABY, he was one of the longest-serving members of the company. Rebel First Sergeant Hazram Namir approved Cappandar for a mission to seize supplies aboard an Imperial heavy freighter in the Redhurne system. Cappandar perished during the mission after being shot half a dozen times and was subsequently given a funeral, with a one-line eulogy from another member of the company.

Biography[]

"Cappandar took half a dozen shots before he hit the ground."
"One more to drink to when we get back."
―Fektrin and Hazram Namir — (audio) Listen (file info)[2]

Cappandar was a soldier in the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, better known as "Twilight Company," during the Galactic Civil War.[2] By the year 3 ABY,[1] he was one of the longest-serving members of the company. As a result, First Sergeant Hazram Namir approved him—along with a number of others with experience in zero-gravity combat, EVA procedure, and space suit and oxygen mask handling—for a mission to board an Imperial heavy freighter in the Redhurne system to gather supplies that were needed to repair the hyperdrive in Twilight Company's CR90 corvette, the Thunderstrike.[2]

As a part of a squad led by the alien Sergeant Fektrin, Cappandar was tasked with escorting a trio of engineers assigned to scavenge the necessary supplies while aboard the Imperial freighter. Together with at least five other squads—intended to distract the security on the starship—Cappandar's squad boarded the freighter using boarding pods equipped with laserdrills. While escorting the team of engineers to the freighter's command center, Cappandar was killed guarding the group after being shot half a dozen times. Meeting Fektrin and the remainder of his group at the command center afterward, Namir noticed that the sergeant was missing one of his soldiers. Fektrin then described Cappandar's death, with Namir replying that Cappandar was one more to drink to after the raid.[2]

Although his body was not returned to the Thunderstrike, Cappandar received a funeral alongside the seven others who had also died aboard the Imperial freighter. A quartermaster named Hober read the names of all eight deceased in front of the gathering in the Thunderstrike's vehicle bay and over the broadcast that was put out throughout the corvette. As a part of Twilight Company's tradition, Cappandar also received a one-line eulogy from another member of the unit. After the ceremony, friends of Cappandar and the other deceased gathered in the Thunderstrike's clubhouse to share stories of their fallen comrades.[2]
