"Don't snatch."
"Don't snatch? You stole my purse."
―Bry and Jenza[1]

Bry was a Hoopaloo male thief who worked with fellow criminals Jorkat and Velek during the Republic Era. At a celebration on the planet Serenno in 90 BBY, Bry stole a purse from the Serennian Lady Jenza. Although Bry and his associates restrained Jenza and her brother Ramil, the Jedi Initiate Dooku confronted the criminals. Dooku used the Force to throw the Hoopaloo through the air before revealing his presence and fighting Jorkat with an electroblade. The Jedi eventually scared Bry and his accomplices away, saving Jenza and Ramil. Dooku recounted the incident in a holo-letter to Jenza, a recording of which he later showed to his newly-recruited Sith assassin, Asajj Ventress, around 23 BBY.

Serenno-Massacre

Bry and his accomplices attempted to steal from Lady Jenza on Serenno (pictured).

The Hoopaloo[1] male Bry was a thief[2] who lived during the Republic Era, working alongside his criminal accomplices, the Karkarodon Jorkat and the Askajian Velek. The three were assoiated with Renza the Hutt.[1] In 90 BBY,[3] Bry and his associates were present in Carannia,[1] the capital city[2] of the Outer Rim planet Serenno, attending a celebration for the worlds of the region. During the celebration, Bry stole the purse of the young Serennian Lady Jenza—daughter of Count Gora of House Serenno—swiping the item while[1] roughly brushing past her.[2] Bry fled and hid behind a repulsor tent, rummaging through the purse's contents. Jenza pursued, snatching the bag back, and the Hoopaloo reprimanded the girl for doing so. When Jenza noticed that a crystal that had belonged to her grandmother was missing, she questioned Bry, who feigned ignorance.[1]

At that point, Jorkat and Velek approached from behind Jenza, and Bry claimed that the girl had stolen his purse. When Jenza protested, Jorkat called her selfish and asserted that the Hoopaloo had no credits to his name; the Karkarodon suggested stealing the Serennian's coat to give to Bry, who agreed that it would warm his feathers. After Jorkat grabbed Jenza to search her belongings and the girl's brother Ramil was restrained by Velek when he arrived in an attempt to defend his sister, Bry suggested kidnapping the pair and taking them to Renza, although the Karkarodon was unsure whether the Hutt would be interested. Jenza bit Jorkat and escaped his grip, and Bry attempted to catch her.[1]

Fearful flight[]

Dooku: "I'd run too, if I were you."
Jorkat: "I'll rip yer head off."
Bry: "Jorkat. Please, let's get out of here."

Dooku (pictured later in life) confronted Bry and his accomplices.

However, Bry suddenly found himself thrown through the air, having been pushed using the Force by the Jedi Initiate Dooku, who had sensed a connection with Jenza—unbeknownst to both, his sister—and followed the girl. Bry cried out, insisting that something had knocked him down when questioned by his bewildered Karkarodon accomplice. Dooku revealed his presence, wielding an electroblade against Jorkat. Bry attempted to intervene but was once again pushed back by Dooku. Velek was soon thrown into the Hoopaloo, almost crushing Bry when the Askajian stood up to run away. Although Jorkat remained aggravated at Dooku, Bry pleaded with his accomplice and the pair also fled.[1]

Dooku later recounted the incident in a holo-letter to Jenza.[1] Around 23 BBY,[4] Dooku displayed a holographic data disk that detailed the events around meeting his sister, including the skirmish with Bry and his associates, to his recently-recruited Sith assassin, Asajj Ventress. The pair listened to the recording, with Dooku commenting on the Hoopaloo, after which he gave Ventress several more disks for her investigation into Jenza's location.[1]

Personality and traits[]

"Stealing from me, she was. Got me purse."
"That's a lie! It's my purse."
―Bry and Jenza[1]

A thief, Bry lied about the ownership of Jenza's purse and acted as if the girl was the one who was stealing it from him. The Hoopaloo was willing to sell the children Jenza and Ramil to Renza the Hutt. Although he initially attempted to defend Jorkat from Dooku, Bry was soon scared away by the young Jedi's prowess. The Hoopaloo punctuated his speech with squawks, while Jenza considered him scrawny and little.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Bry appeared in the audio drama Dooku: Jedi Lost, written by Cavan Scott[1] and published on April 30, 2019.[5] The spelling of his name was later confirmed with the release of the script[2] on October 1 of the same year.[5]
