"You said you wanted her found."
"A task you performed admirably, but you are an assassin. My assassin."
―Asajj Ventress and Count Dooku[1]

Around 23 BBY, Asajj Ventress undertook a mission to find Jenza, Count Dooku's sister. Unbeknownst to Ventress, it was an assassination mission.

Prelude[]

A mission from Dooku[]

"I want you to find my sister."
―Dooku, sending Ventress on a mission[1]
Ventress-Jedi-Lost

Asajj Ventress was tasked to find Dooku's sister, Lady Jenza

In 24 BBY,[2] Count Dooku formed the Confederacy of Independent Systems, claiming he did so in response to the corruption of the Galactic Republic. As star systems began to join the Confederacy and leave the Republic, the Separatist Crisis began.[4] Around 23 BBY,[3] Republic Intelligence agents kidnapped Dooku's sister, Lady Jenza. Upon learning this, Dooku tasked his Sith apprentice Asajj Ventress to find his disappeared sister, insisting that Ventress took the Windrunner to the Carannia Spaceport, giving her the opportunity to review old personal holos and Dooku's journal, learning how Dooku was before he left the Jedi Order, while seeing Serenno from above.[1]

When the Windrunner arrived at the spaceport, Ventress left it there without landing it. She found herself behind the duracrete hangar and noted that every spaceport was the same, heading to the Trannon district. While there, she slinked through the door into the Portmaster's office, ahead of a portworker Yepa. She mind tricked Yepa to get caf in Saffia, over one hundred kilometers away. With no distractions, Asajj interrogated Raz Fellidrone, the supposed portmaster, about the location of Dooku's sister. Learning that Jenza bought a ticket yesterday to Coruscant in the Core systems and never used it, Ventress used the office's security system to find her heading to the spaceport's main terminal. In the bustle of the streets, with Togorian younglings blocking the recording, Ventress sees Jenza captured by a Crolute criminal. She left the office threatening Raz Fellidrone to never talk about this conversation and intending to track down the Crolute.[1]

Tracking down Glute[]

"Glute. I've been waiting for you."
―Asajj Ventress, to Glute[1]

The only lead brought Ventress to the Belsallian Cantina, while there she had a brawl with a Khormai, and learned from a waitress droid that a Crolute was formerly affiliated with the Razorclaw Gang, who were present in the cantina. She questioned them about his location, and when they refused to answer, she sliced Pendago's limb off with a lightsaber. It took three more slices until she learned his name was Glute, and a Gran told Ventress he lived in a crumbling res block near the cargo stores.[1]

Asajj barged into the building, breaking the rusted lock. Once inside, the trail grew cold, as the building was a maze of corridors and she felt Glute wasn't there. She decided to wait out on the rooftop of the nearby warehouse, while watching another holo using a data disk reader. She paused the reader to scan the street for a sign of a Crolute, before resuming the final data disk. When it ended, she felt the story wasn't over, so she pulled Dooku's journal from her pocket, hiding under a cooling tower to protect the datapad screen, learning about the Mission to Asusto, Rael Averross, the past of Ky Narec, and the Summit on Station Zeta. Swiping the datapad back and forth, she finds another data disk in the pad's case, sliding it into the reader again, it recounted the events of Forty-eighth annual Dragonfire Air Rally.[1]

Finally, Glute decided to come home, as Ventress noticed him from the rooftop. She jumps down behind him, igniting her lightsabers, demanding to know where he took Jenza. Asajj aimed to slice his mechanical ankles, but Glute jumped into the air, and kicked her back. While she sprang back, he was already running toward her, with his metal-plated head held like a battering ram. As Ventress pivoted over his back, she slashed at his legs, her lightsaber meeting armor plating and alloy tendrons. Then, she used the Force to shove him down into the cracked sidewalk. Before Ventress could get information from Glute, a sudden blaster bolt was fired into the Crolute's head. Ventress bound back up to the warehouse, recognizing a Zim-Jumper rocket pack as the sniper got away, while she chased him across the buildings, already knowing it was Raz Fellidrone.[1]

The mission[]

Finding Jenza[]

"I've found your sister, but we're about to have company."
―Asajj Ventress[1]

Following the sudden death of Glute, Ventress caught up with Raz Fellidrone, breaking through the window into his apartment. Using a mind trick, she demanded Raz to show her where Jenza is. The trick didn't work, but Fellidrone, acting like it did, revealed that Jenza was behind a fake wall in the next room, and that there was a control panel with a secret switch behind the picture of Glee Anselm on the wall that opened it. Asajj used the switch, which was actually a booby trap, and electricity surged through her body, making her collapse on the floor. Immediately after she passed out, Fellidrone checked her pulse and requested extraction through the comlink. While Raz was planning to use an injector to sedate Jenza for the extraction, Asajj Ventress stabbed him through his chest with her lightsaber. After acquainting with Jenza, Ventress helped her to remove the restraints with the lightsaber, and while doing that, learned about Invasion of Serenno from her.[1]

As she burned through Jenza's last restraint, Ventress moved to the console to check Fellidrone's security feeds. On the feeds she noticed that his handlers are on their way to the apartment, so she activated her holocomm to ask Dooku for assistance. While Ventress was busy hearing Jenza's story, Republic Intelligence agents were already in the building, moving to the apartment. Ventress sealed the secret compartment, preparing a lightsaber attack. But while two agents tried entering the access code into the control panel behind the picture, Dooku entered the room and Force choked them, making his way to Jenza.[1]

Meeting with Dooku[]

"And I have. Serenno will be the beating heart of a new Empire."
"An Empire I want no part of. I don't recognize you anymore. You're not my brother."
"I am. Which is why I must release you. Ventress…"
―Jenza and Dooku[1]

Jenza tried to plea with Dooku saying that he lost his way and that Republic agents weren't able to break her, but Dooku was unphased, turning to Ventress, and only concerned with the data that was sent to the Republic Intelligence. Asajj didn't know about it, so she checked the transmissions that were sent, discovering only short-range communication with Fellidrone's handler on Serenno.[1]

Jenza pleaded with her brother again saying that the Jedi can help him and that a "hooded man" has corrupted him instead of helping Dooku. He claims that she attempted to betray him to the Jedi and reveal his plans, while Jenza said she never knew of any plans. Dooku continued, revealing his plans to make Serenno a beating heart of a new Empire, but Jenza rejected this offer, disowning Dooku as her brother and wanting no part in this Empire.[1]

Dooku really intended for Jenza to be killed, for the information she held. He ordered Ventress to do so, reminding her she was an assassin and revealing the true purpose of her mission. While hearing her pleas to stop this, Asajj walked towards Jenza and said "I'm sorry" as she buried her lightsaber into Jenza's chest. Her body slumped to the floor as she uttered her last words: "Brother."[1]

Aftermath[]

"You have done well."
"Your will is mine."
"There must be no evidence."
―Dooku and Ventress[1]

Following the successful assassination mission, Asajj Ventress was ordered to destroy the evidence, so she placed agent's blaster with a cranked power pack in the paralene fuel, hoping for an overload. She headed to leave the apartment the same way she entered into it, through the window. There, she looked up and saw the Windrunner in the clouds above, and while she was looking at it, she reached out for Dooku's journal in her pocket, throwing it into the paralene as well. As Ventress left through the window, a massive explosion tore the building apart.[1]
