"This is wrong. Did you see this? It looks like we somehow got pulled out into the Berenge sector. Nothing out here but a dead star and a whole bunch of nothing."
Neeto Janajana[1]

The Berenge sector,[1] also capitalized as the Berenge Sector,[2] was a largely empty sector in the galaxy. A largely administrative division, the sector was once controlled by the San Tekka clan on a lease from the Galactic Republic for hyperspace experimentation. After the lease expired, a group of academics led by Professor Thaddeus Wolk petitioned for the sector to be set aside for academic purposes. However Xylan Graf wanted to secure a lease on the sector for his family, the Graf family, in order to conduct weapon testing in it. While the sector's use was being disputed, the Nihil Tempest Runner Lourna Dee and the scientist Chancey Yarrow hid in the Berenge sector on the Gravity's Heart space station in order to test an experimental gravity well projector. The Republic did not know about the existence of the Nihil space station, however Thaddeus Wolk had the theory that a Nihil hyperspace weapon was operating in that part of space which subsequently resulted in an investigation being launched by Ghirra Starros to verify or disprove his theory. The investigation led to the discorvery and subsequent destruction of the space station, additonally it uncovered ties of the Graf family with the Nihil.[1]
