"It is my duty to act in your best interest and it is why I can no longer condone this unjust occupation. They wish to intimidate us, to scare us, but we shall not cower at their acts of oppression."
―Avi Singh, condemning the Imperial occupation of Raxus Secundus[1]

Avi Singh was a human male senator who served in the Senate of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and resided on its capital planet Raxus Secundus after the collapse of the Separatist state before fleeing into hiding. Originally a senator in the Galactic Republic Senate, his political skills ensured that the capital of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and its Senate would be located on Raxus Secundus.

Biography[]

Early life[]

"The Separatist Senate may not exist any longer, but our desire for true independence has not faded"
―Avi Singh[3]

During the Republic Era, Avi Singh was a senator on the Galactic Senate and an outspoken advocate of self-determination from the Galactic Republic. As a political powerhouse based on Raxus, Singh and his colleagues turned Raxus Secundus into the capital of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[2] In reward for his years of service, Senator Singh was gifted an antique vase. However, though his RA-7 protocol droid GS-8 claimed the vase was a possession that was prized by its owner, Singh himself later admitted to have never liked the vase.[1]

Under new authority[]

After the collapse of the Confederacy,[4] the Galactic Empire began its occupation of his planet, Captain Bragg prefaced a public announcement by telling the citizens that the occupation was for their benefit as long as they complied and gave the Empire their allegiance. Senator Singh told his droid, GS-8, that he could not go through with endorsing the occupation and would not become an Imperial pawn. When it was his turn to speak and endorse the Imperial presence, he instead spoke out, calling the occupation unjust and saying that he and the people would not bow to their acts of intimidation. He was dragged away as the crowd cheered for his actions, but the masses of citizens were soon cleared out by Imperial walkers and Singh was imprisoned. GS-8 contacted Cid, who sent Clone Force 99 to extract Singh. Meanwhile, Bragg prepared to torture Singh to comply. After being rescued, he helped the group escape by directing Tech towards a secret passage through which they escaped the pursuing clone troopers and retreated to the Marauder.[1]

Singh meeting with Senator Chuchi

Singh would go into hiding following the occupation but would later emerge and visit the planet Pantora following an invitation from Senator Riyo Chuchi. Accompanied by GS-8 as well as members of the Clone Underground, Singh and Chuchi had a secret meeting in a tea parlor discussed their growing discontent of the Empire from formerly Republic worlds as well as formerly Separatist ones. As they sat and drank tea, they were attacked by clone assassin CX-1, who attempted to kill them both. Thanks to the efforts of Captain Rex, the attempt was unsuccessful. Following their meeting, senator Singh and Chuchi assumed low profiles in response to the attack. After encrypting a data puck from the assassin, the clones learned that Singh was among one of targets on the list.[3]

Personality and traits[]

"This is what it's come to? I must be a puppet for the Empire?"
―Avi Singh[1]

Avi Singh was a human male with white hair, light brown eyes and dark skin. The senator was completely bald and had mutton chops.[1]

A good-natured person, Senator Avi Singh acted in the best interests of his people. Despite warnings from his droid GS-8, Singh refused to endorse the Imperial occupation of Raxus and instead spoke out against it. While these actions resulted in him being arrested and tortured to comply, his disposition about the occupation went unchanged. After being rescued by the Bad Batch, Singh realized he could not abandon his people to the Empire. With encouragement from Echo, the Senator decided to make the decision and go into hiding. His passion for bringing true independence to his people and Raxus, however, did not dissipate.
